Headline: the whole pen/tablet input stack (P0–P5) — a pressure-sensitive stylus plane across core wire, Linux, GameStream/Moonlight, Windows, iPad Pencil and Android. Plus touch-injection fixes, cursor-DPI scaling, three Windows-host display/cursor fixes, a gamepad same-PID conflict fix, and the Android mouse/keyboard (TV) regressions. Release notes authored in-repo at docs/releases/v0.19.0.md (first release on the new flow; CI seeds the release body from it). cargo update --workspace syncs the lock (versions only). feat(capture): gamescope cursor via XFixes shape + QueryPointer position (Phase C)
gamescope excludes its pointer from the PipeWire node it feeds us and can't embed one either (`set_hw_cursor` is inert), so every gamescope stream was cursorless. Read the pointer from gamescope's nested Xwayland instead — XFixesGetCursorImage for shape/hotspot/visibility, core QueryPointer for position — and publish a CursorOverlay into the capturer's existing `cursor_live` slot, so the encoder blend composites it into the video exactly like the SPA_META_Cursor path. - pf-capture/src/linux/xfixes_cursor.rs (new): the XFixes reader. Connects to EVERY nested Xwayland (Gaming Mode runs one per --xwayland-count) and follows the focused one each tick (the display whose pointer moves), reading that display's own cursor shape. Un-premultiplies ARGB -> straight RGBA. Drop stops the thread. - Capturer::attach_gamescope_cursor + the PortalCapturer override spawn it into the same `cursor_live` slot; pf_vdisplay::gamescope_xwayland_cursor_targets discovers the (DISPLAY, XAUTHORITY) pairs via the GAMESCOPE_WAYLAND_DISPLAY scan. - host: SessionPlan.gamescope_cursor (set from the compositor at both resolve sites AND on a mid-stream Desktop->Gaming switch); the blend gate now builds the encoder blend for gamescope; a sibling composite arm attaches capturer.cursor() per tick for capture-mode clients (no channel needed). native NV12 is disabled for these sessions — that encode path can't blend the cursor (it assumes gamescope embeds the pointer), so we capture RGB and route to the proven CUDA VkSlotBlend / compute-CSC blend. - the pipewire thread no longer clobbers `cursor_live` with None on a buffer that carries no SPA_META_Cursor (gamescope) — that raced the XFixes writer and strobed the composited pointer on/off. On-glass (home-bazzite-2, RTX 5070 Ti, Gaming Mode): cursor visible + steady in Big Picture and CS2 menus, follows focus between the two Xwaylands, hidden in-game. The 0.17.2 placeholder underestimated this cycle: Android mouse & keyboard (physical mouse + capture, TV remote-as-pointer, IME text, clipboard), the new committed-text input plane (InputKind::TextInput / HOST_CAP_TEXT_INPUT), and the ChaCha20-Poly1305 session cipher are feature work — a minor, not a patch. Wire/driver/C-ABI markers all unchanged (2 / 4 / 10): every addition is negotiated or ignored by older peers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Lifts the ~100 Mbps decrypt ceiling on clients without hardware AES — the armv7 soft-AES targets (webOS TVs), where AES-128-GCM resolves to fixsliced software AES + software GHASH (~50-100 cpb) while ChaCha20-Poly1305's ARX construction runs ~10-17 cpb portable, a 4-7x lift that PyroWave-on-TV needs (design/chacha20-session-cipher.md). Phase 1 (core crypto, no wire change): SessionKey merges cipher choice and key material (invalid combinations unrepresentable, zeroize + redacted-Debug discipline kept); SessionCrypto dispatches both aead-0.5 ciphers per call — the salt||seq nonce scheme, per-direction salts, seq-as-AAD and replay window carry over verbatim (same 96-bit nonce / 16-byte tag, const-asserted). Config.key becomes SessionKey; validate's zero-key rejection follows the active variant. The C ABI keeps its fixed 16-byte key mapped to AES — no ABI_VERSION bump. Phase 2 (negotiation): VIDEO_CAP_CHACHA20 (0x40) — support-plus-request in one bit, the VIDEO_CAP_444 precedent. Welcome grows cipher@68 + key_chacha@69..101, emitted only when non-zero so an AES session's Welcome stays byte-identical to the pre-cipher form; decode is fail-closed (short key or unknown id -> Err, never a silent AES fallback). No WIRE_VERSION bump; downgrade resistance inherited from the pinned-TLS control channel. Phase 3 (host): grant only when the client advertised the bit and the PUNKTFUNK_CHACHA20 kill-switch (default on, documented) allows; fresh 32-byte per-session key from the same RNG discipline, legacy key field stays independently random; resolved cipher logged at session start. Verification: seal/open suites parameterized over both ciphers + a cross-cipher tamper case; Welcome roundtrip/truncation/fail-closed tests; ChaCha lossy-loopback soak (loss/replay is cipher-independent); bench gains _chacha20 series (AES ids unchanged for CI history) — host-side sealing line-rate-trivial on both x86 (~640 MiB/s) and Apple Silicon (~535 MiB/s). punktfunk-probe drives the interop matrix via PUNKTFUNK_CLIENT_CHACHA20=1 and logs the negotiated cipher. Phase 4 (pf-webos pin bump + unconditional cap bit) follows the next core release. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(store): plugin store host module — signed catalogs, tiered trust, install jobs
The index is the verification gate: a catalog entry pins one exact version
plus that version's tarball integrity hash, so 'verified on every release'
is a property of the data rather than a promise about process. Nothing can
express 'track latest' for a catalogued plugin.
- store/index.rs signed index parse + ed25519 verify (ring), validate-and-drop
per entry, semver minHost/advisory ranges
- store/sources.rs built-in unom source (compiled-in URL + two key slots for
rotation) + operator sources in plugin-sources.json
- store/catalog.rs https fetch with size/timeout/redirect caps, signature before
parse, last-good disk cache (stale-but-usable when offline)
- store/jobs.rs single-flight install/uninstall: registry-integrity preflight
against the pin, spawn the runner CLI with live log capture,
post-install version check with rollback, provenance record,
runner restart (discovery is startup-only)
- store/manifest.rs install provenance; absence means CLI-installed
- mgmt/store.rs 12 routes under /api/v1/store, denied to the plugin token
(a plugin that can install plugins is an escalation primitive)
Also generalizes runner discovery and listInstalled from @punktfunk/plugin-*
to ANY scope's plugin-*: catalog entries must be scoped so the scope can map
to that entry's registry, so a third-party plugin necessarily arrives under
its own scope and would otherwise install but never run.

MINOR, not the 0.15.1 originally planned: the 24 commits since v0.15.0 carry 7 features, and they are not incidental — they change the plugin runner's privilege model. It stops holding the console's full-admin token (scoped plugin-token lane), the Windows runner drops from SYSTEM to LocalService, public-registry plugin installs are gated behind an explicit flag, and the systemd user unit is sandboxed. Operators have workflow-visible changes to absorb (a plugin genuinely needing the admin surface must now set PUNKTFUNK_MGMT_TOKEN; installing outside the @punktfunk scope needs --allow-public-registry). A patch label would understate all of that, and sdk-publish pushes this version straight to consumers. The other 12 fixes are largely the pf-encode/zerocopy/capture/inject quality sweep landing: teardown deadlocks, error-path leaks, a GL->CUDA copy race, an odd-height NV12 overrun, a cursor-meta OOB read, plus the two loss-recovery gaps 0.15.0 left open (Vulkan Video never got the LTR taint sweep; QSV's sweep skipped its modal single-swept-slot case). `WIRE_VERSION` stays 2 and the driver protocol stays v4 — pairings, clients and installed drivers keep working. The C ABI moves 8 -> 9 (PunktfunkFrame grows `received_ns`, so receipt is stamped at the session boundary rather than at the embedder's pull); the gitignored Apple xcframework needs a rebuild for that to reach the Apple clients. No OpenAPI path changes (45 before and after) — the new plugin-token lane is auth-layer only — so api/openapi.json moves info.version only. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

MINOR, not patch: 31 commits since v0.13.0 carry 10 features, including a new

sdk-publish pushes this version to consumers, a patch bump would understate a
new API surface for anyone pinning ~0.13.

fixes: the RSA host-identity keygen that broke every fresh Windows install on
0.13.0, and SDR negotiation on the Windows IDD-push path.

Companion to the host ring fix: pf-client-core declared rustls with features=["ring"] but WITHOUT default-features=false, so rustls's default aws-lc-rs backend came along too (feature tree: aws-lc-rs <- rustls default <- pf-client-core default) — pulling aws-lc-sys 0.41.0 into the Windows client + session + presenter builds, the same C dep that fails on the CI runner. Pin default-features=false + [ring, logging, std, tls12] (matching the tray/host/core pattern). aws-lc-sys now gone from EVERY windows-built crate (host, client-windows, client-session, tray — all 'cargo tree -i aws-lc-sys' => no match). Code already used rustls::crypto::ring::default_provider (library.rs); no behaviour change. Validated: cargo tree (all 4 windows crates aws-lc-free) + .21 clippy -D warnings (pf-client-core, pf-presenter, punktfunk-client-session) clean. |

The Windows host clippy CI broke building aws-lc-sys 0.41.0 (a heavy C dep that
cl.exe fails to compile on the runner). The host was the ONLY thing pulling it:
its rcgen used features=["aws_lc_rs"], and bare `rustls`/`tokio-rustls` take
the default (aws-lc-rs) backend, and gamestream/{mod,tls}.rs installed the
aws_lc_rs crypto provider explicitly — a pre-existing deviation from the
project's documented ring-only design (punktfunk-core + the client are ring).
Align the host to ring: rcgen/rustls/tokio-rustls pinned to the `ring` feature
(keeping tls12 for Moonlight/GameStream TLS-1.2 clients) and the two GameStream
provider installs switched to `rustls::crypto::ring::default_provider()`. Both
providers offer the same standard TLS 1.2/1.3 suites, so it's transparent to the
TLS paths; aws-lc-sys/aws-lc-rs leave the tree entirely (`cargo tree -i
aws-lc-sys` => no match). Not caused by the preceding log fix (that touched no
crypto deps / the lock).
Validated: cargo tree (aws-lc-sys gone, windows target, amf-qsv,qsv features) +
.21 host clippy -D warnings (--features nvenc) clean. Owed: GameStream on-glass
re-check with a real Moonlight client (low risk — same TLS suites, client is
already ring).

Vendored MIT VPL dispatcher (static, trimmed tree, pin 674d015b/v2.17.0) built via cmake+bindgen behind new feature 'qsv' (pf-encode + punktfunk-host forward). qsv.rs: dispatcher session on the capture adapter (LUID-matched), SetHandle D3D11, AsyncDepth=1/GopRefDist=1/VDEnc/CBR + HRD-off low-latency config, GetSurfaceForEncode + GPU CopySubresourceRegion input (zero-copy, no readback path), bounded sync-point poll, in-place reset with teardown escalation, no-IDR bitrate retarget (Reset + StartNewSequence=OFF), 10-bit P010 HEVC-Main10/AV1, HDR mastering/CLL SEI-OBU at IDR + BT.2020/PQ VSI, LTR-RFI via mfxExtRefListCtrl (AMF slot policy port, Query-gated per codec, wire-index FrameOrder pinning). Dispatch: native-first with ffmpeg fallback + PUNKTFUNK_QSV_FFMPEG hatch; probes (can_encode_10bit / windows_codec_support / windows_backend_is_probed) now answer natively for QSV. Transcoding every image to PNG was the Phase-1 floor, but it bloats lossy originals (a copied JPEG re-encoded lossless is 5-10x the bytes for zero quality gain — feeding the render-timeout on constrained links) and flattens GIFs to one frame. The wire already carries kind LISTS, so offer the original format beside the portable fallback and let the destination pick: - New wire kinds image/jpeg + image/gif (§3.5 extension; strings only, no protocol change). image/png stays the universal floor every peer accepts. - macOS: public.jpeg / com.compuserve.gif rows pass through verbatim both directions; the PNG floor is announced whenever any image is present. - Windows: registered JFIF/GIF formats read + promised verbatim; every image offer still promises CF_DIB, whose delayed render now fetches the richest offered kind (png > jpeg > gif) through the generalized image_to_dib. - Linux maps gain the matching rows (native MIME pass-through). merge(core): reconcile the W7/W8 client refactor with origin's shared-clipboard feature
origin/main landed the shared clipboard (design/clipboard-and-file-transfer.md) while
this branch split quic/msgs.rs -> quic/{caps,control,...} and client.rs ->
client/{mod,control,worker,pump,planes,...} (W7) and deleted the two monoliths. The
feature had modified both deleted files, so its delta is re-applied onto the split
instead of resurrecting the monoliths:
- HOST_CAP_CLIPBOARD -> quic/caps.rs
- MSG_CLIP_* / CLIP_* consts, the six Clip*
structs, and their encode/decode impls -> quic/control.rs (beside the clock codecs)
- CtrlRequest::{ClipControl,ClipOffer} +
Negotiated.host_caps -> client/control.rs
- WorkerArgs.{clip_event_tx,clip_cmd_rx} -> client/worker.rs
- CLIP_EVENT_QUEUE -> client/planes.rs
- NativeClient clip fields, the 7 clip_* /
host_caps / next_clip methods, connect()
channel wiring -> client/mod.rs
- the control-task encode/decode arms and
the clipboard-task spawn -> client/pump.rs
Cargo.lock reconciled (adds pf-clipboard), punktfunk-host/Cargo.toml unions the W6
pf-* subsystem deps with pf-clipboard, and include/punktfunk_core.h is the cbindgen
union (clipboard + rumble C-ABI). punktfunk-core builds --all-features and its 174
lib tests pass, including quic::tests::clip_loopback.

refactor(host/W6.2): extract virtual-display orchestration into the pf-vdisplay crate
vdisplay.rs + vdisplay/* (the per-compositor Linux backends — KWin zkde-screencast,
wlroots swaymsg, Mutter RemoteDesktop, Hyprland — and the Windows IddCx/pf-vdisplay
driver backend, behind one VirtualDisplay trait; the mode-conflict admission
registry, the display policy/identity/custom-preset state, and the session-env /
gamescope routing) move into crates/pf-vdisplay (plan §W6). The DDC/CI panel-power
control (used only here) and the KWin zkde protocol XML move with it. This
completes the host-crate decomposition: capture, encode, inject, and vdisplay are
now four subsystem crates over the shared leaves, and punktfunk-host is the
orchestrator (serve/supervisor + native + gamestream + mgmt).
Coupling breaks (all down-only, cargo-tree acyclic):
- capture::dxgi identity -> pf_frame::dxgi; win_display/monitor_devnode/
console_session_mismatch -> pf-win-display leaf; can_open_another_session ->
pf-encode (the NVENC session-budget admission gate — acyclic peer edge).
- The registry's DisplayCreated/DisplayReleased emits into the host SSE event bus
invert to a leaf hook: pf-vdisplay emits a neutral DisplayEvent to a
host-registered DISPLAY_EVENT_SINK, so it never reaches the orchestrator's
events module.
- The IddCx driver module is renamed pf_vdisplay -> driver (its old name collided
with the crate name through the host's `mod vdisplay` shim glob).
The host keeps `mod vdisplay { pub use pf_vdisplay::* }` so every crate::vdisplay::*
path (serve/mgmt/native/the capture FrameChannelSender seam) is unchanged; the
heavy deps (wayland/ashpd/tokio + the zkde protocol) moved with the crate.
Co-authored: a fail-closed IOCTL-reply-length security fix (reject short/zeroed
pf-vdisplay driver replies before trusting protocol_version/target_id/wudf_pid/luid,
security-review 2026-07-17) rides this commit in the moved driver module.
Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-vdisplay + host nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave
--all-targets) + pf-vdisplay 63/63 + host 167/167 tests; Windows clippy -D warnings
(pf-vdisplay --all-targets + host nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets) Finished exit 0.

refactor(host/W6.2): extract the input-injection backends into the pf-inject crate
inject.rs + inject/* (the per-OS injectors — wlroots virtual-input, KWin
fake_input, libei/reis, gamescope-EI on Linux; SendInput on Windows — plus the
virtual-gamepad HID stack: DualSense/DualShock4/Switch Pro/Steam Controller/Deck
over uhid/usbip and the Windows UMDF drivers, the proto codecs, the injector
service, and the uhid manager) move into crates/pf-inject behind the
InputInjector trait (plan §W6). It consumes punktfunk_core::input (the neutral
GamepadEvent/InputEvent vocabulary, moved to core in W5) + the pf-driver-proto
wire contract, and reaches pf-capture only for the Windows gamepad-channel
WUDFHost check + the resident-mouse compose-kick hook.
The one inject->vdisplay coupling (the libei gamescope-EI backend needs the EIS
relay socket path) is broken via a leaf: gamescope_ei_socket_file moves to
pf-paths as the shared contract — the gamescope producer (host vdisplay) keeps
its session-env-lock wrapper around it, the libei consumer (pf-inject) reads it
directly post-retarget. The host keeps a `mod inject { pub use pf_inject::* }`
shim so every crate::inject::* path (the native/gamestream input planes + devtest)
is unchanged; the heavy input deps (wayland/reis/xkbcommon/usbip + the KWin
fake-input protocol XML) moved with the crate.
Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-inject + host nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave
--all-targets) + pf-inject 69/69 + host 230/230 tests; Windows clippy -D warnings
(pf-inject --all-targets + host nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets) Finished exit 0.

refactor(host/W6.2): extract the frame-capture backends into the pf-capture crate
capture/linux (PipeWire portal) + capture/windows (IDD direct-push: dxgi mechanics, idd_push + submodules, synthetic_nv12) + pwinit move into crates/pf-capture behind the Capturer trait + synthetic sources (plan §W6). The crate speaks pf-frame (CapturedFrame/PixelFormat + the DXGI identity), pf-zerocopy (CUDA import), and the pf-win-display leaves, and NEVER pf-encode — the capture->encode edge is one-way. This completes the deliberate capture/encode crate split (the invasive path the plan had merged into one pf-media): capture and encode are now separate subsystem crates sharing only pf-frame. Four seams keep the capturer off the orchestrator: - VirtualOutput is EXPLODED into primitives (remote_fd/node_id/preferred_mode/ keepalive) by the host facade, so pf-capture never depends on the vdisplay type; - FrameChannelSender: the sealed-channel delivery is a Send+Sync closure the host facade builds from the pf-vdisplay control device + send_frame_channel IOCTL and hands in; ChannelBroker holds the closure instead of the control HANDLE (the whole-desktop handle-duplication security boundary is byte-for-byte unchanged); - console_session_mismatch + desktop_bounds live in pf-win-display (leaf peers); - pwinit moves here (audio caller -> pf_capture::pwinit). The host keeps capture.rs as a thin BRIDGE: it re-exports the vocabulary + capturer types (every crate::capture::* path is unchanged) and keeps open_portal_monitor / capture_virtual_output, which resolve the ZeroCopyPolicy + FrameChannelSender and call into pf-capture. verify_is_wudfhost + install_gpu_pref_hook are re-exported (the gamepad-channel bootstrap + the main.rs subcommand consume them). Co-developed: the resident-HID-mouse compose-kick hook (HID_COMPOSE_KICK + the HID-first cursor kick + _display_wake) rides this commit into pf-capture; the host mouse_windows registration side lands separately on top. Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-capture + host nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave --all-targets) + host tests 299/299; Windows clippy -D warnings (pf-capture --all-targets + host nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets) Finished exit 0. refactor(host/W6.2): extract the video encode backends into the pf-encode crate
encode.rs + encode/* (NVENC, VAAPI, native AMF, AMF/QSV ffmpeg, direct-SDK NVENC/CUDA, raw Vulkan-Video, PyroWave, openh264) move into crates/pf-encode behind one Encoder trait + open_video selector (plan §W6). The crate speaks the shared frame vocabulary (pf-frame: CapturedFrame/PixelFormat + the DXGI identity D3d11Frame/make_device) and pf-zerocopy (CUDA context/buffers), and NEVER pf-capture — the capture→encode edge is one-way (ZeroCopyPolicy, prior commit). Dep moves: the heavy encoder deps (ffmpeg-next, the NVENC SDK, openh264, pyrowave-sys) move from the host to pf-encode; the host's nvenc/amf-qsv/vulkan-encode/pyrowave features now FORWARD to pf-encode/*. The host keeps a mod-encode shim (pub use pf_encode) so every crate::encode::* path (negotiator + GameStream/native/mgmt planes) is unchanged. resolve_render_adapter_luid moves from the host's windows/win_adapter.rs into pf-gpu (both pf-encode and pf-capture need it as a peer of GPU selection); its 5 call sites (encode amf/nvenc, capture idd_push/synthetic_nv12, vdisplay manager) rewire to pf_gpu::resolve_render_adapter_luid and win_adapter.rs is deleted. pf-frame's make_device gains a # Safety section (public-unsafe-fn lint, latent since the pf-frame carve — a full-workspace -D warnings clippy catches it). Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-encode + host nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave --all-targets) + 13/13 pf-encode + 299/299 host tests; Windows clippy -D warnings (pf-encode nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets + host nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets) Finished exit 0. refactor(host/W6.2): extract the Windows display-topology cluster into the pf-win-display leaf crate
windows/{win_display,monitor_devnode,display_events}.rs move into
crates/pf-win-display: the CCD/GDI path-activation + mode-set + HDR
advanced-colour + source-rect helpers, the PnP monitor-devnode enable/disable
lever, and the WM_DISPLAYCHANGE / device-arrival watch. The coming pf-capture
crate's IDD-push capturer consumes all three; the host's pf-vdisplay backend
consumes win_display + monitor_devnode. A leaf lets both depend on them as a
PEER instead of the capturer reaching back into the orchestrator (plan §W6).
win_display's one external tie (crate::vdisplay::Mode) becomes the underlying
punktfunk_core::Mode; the cluster is otherwise self-contained (pf-paths for the
state file, serde_json for it, windows). pub(crate) items bump to pub at the
boundary; win_display carries a module-level allow(missing_safety_doc) to keep
the pre-carve behavior (the FFI helpers were pub(crate) unsafe fn with prose
safety docs — the lint only fires once they're pub, and this is an internal
publish=false leaf). The host imports the three modules at its crate root, so
every crate::{win_display,monitor_devnode,display_events}::* path is unchanged.
Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (leaf empty + host
nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave --all-targets); Windows clippy -D warnings
(pf-win-display --all-targets + host nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets) Finished exit 0.

refactor(host/W6.2): extract the shared frame/format vocabulary into the pf-frame leaf crate
The captured-frame types both capture (producer) and encode (consumer) speak —
PixelFormat, OutputFormat, CursorOverlay, CapturedFrame, FramePayload,
DmabufFrame, drm_fourcc — move into crates/pf-frame, alongside the small pure
helpers that ride the same seam: hdr (HDR static metadata / in-band SEI),
metronome (the metronomic-stall detector), thread_qos (per-thread scheduling
QoS), session_tuning (Windows process tuning), and the Windows DXGI capture
IDENTITY (WinCaptureTarget, D3d11Frame, pack_luid, make_device + the GPU
scheduling-priority hardening it applies) (plan §W6).
This is the crate that breaks the capture<->encode cycle: FramePayload's GPU
variants own their backends from BELOW (Cuda -> pf_zerocopy::DeviceBuffer,
D3d11 -> dxgi::D3d11Frame), so encode can speak the vocabulary without a path to
capture, and vice versa. The Windows DXGI identity moving here lets capture,
encode, and pf-vdisplay share ONE WinCaptureTarget/device factory instead of the
old capture<->encode<->vdisplay reach-in.
The host keeps thin facades: capture.rs re-exports the vocabulary
(crate::capture::{PixelFormat,…} unchanged); capture/windows/dxgi.rs keeps the
win32u GPU-preference hook + HDR/video-engine converters + self-test and
re-exports the identity; native.rs re-exports boost_thread_priority from
pf_frame. crate::hdr/metronome/session_tuning callers rewired to pf_frame::*.
metronome's Metronome::new gained a Default impl (new_without_default fires once
the type is public across the crate boundary).
Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-frame --all-targets + host
nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave --all-targets) + 9/9 pf-frame tests; Windows clippy
nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets Finished exit 0.

refactor(host/W6.2): extract the Linux zero-copy GPU plumbing into the pf-zerocopy leaf crate
linux/zerocopy/* (CUDA context/buffers + EGL/Vulkan dmabuf import + the isolated import worker) and linux/dmabuf_fence.rs move wholesale into crates/pf-zerocopy, so the coming pf-frame vocabulary crate (FramePayload::Cuda owns a DeviceBuffer) and the pf-encode/pf-capture subsystem crates can reach the GPU plumbing without the host orchestrator in between (plan §W6). Content stays Linux-only; the crate compiles to an empty lib elsewhere, so dependents carry a plain dependency. drm_fourcc deliberately does NOT move: it consumes the frame vocabulary (PixelFormat), which sits ABOVE pf-zerocopy — it lives with capture for now and moves into pf-frame next. cuda's ffi re-export bumps pub(crate)->pub (the raw CUdeviceptr vocabulary is consumed across the crate boundary by the encode backends). A crate::zerocopy shim module keeps every existing path valid until capture/encode themselves move out. Verified: Linux clippy -D warnings (pf-zerocopy --all-targets + host nvenc,vulkan-encode,pyrowave --all-targets) + 17/17 pf-zerocopy tests + 321/321 host tests; Windows clippy nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets Finished exit 0. refactor(host/W6.1): extract GPU vendor/adapter detection into the pf-gpu leaf crate
Fourth de-coupling for the host crate carve (plan §W6.1 leaf). gpu.rs (inventory, selection preference, active-session accounting — deps only pf-host-config + pf-paths, no subsystem refs) moves to a new pf-gpu leaf so pf-encode/pf-capture/pf-vdisplay can consult the selected GPU without an orchestrator edge. ~50 crate::gpu:: sites repoint to pf_gpu::; the ~30 pub(crate) items become pub (crate API). assign_ids gets a macOS-only allow(dead_code) (used only by the Linux/Windows enumerate arms). Verified: Linux (home-worker-5) clippy -p pf-gpu -p punktfunk-host --all-targets -D warnings + pf-gpu tests (12 pass); Windows (192.168.1.158) clippy --features nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets green. refactor(host/W6.1): extract the config() global into the pf-host-config leaf crate
Third de-coupling for the host crate carve (plan §W6.1 leaf). HostConfig + the config() OnceLock (config.rs, pure std, zero deps) move to a new pf-host-config leaf so every subsystem crate (pf-encode/pf-capture/pf-vdisplay/pf-gpu) can read process config WITHOUT depending on the orchestrator. 34 crate::config::config() call sites across 19 files repoint to pf_host_config::config(). thread_qos stays in the host for now (it calls session_tuning::on_hot_thread — its own leaf-ification rides the encode carve). Granular-crate decision (supersedes the plan's single pf-media): split capture/encode/ vdisplay into separate crates rather than one broad crate — the capture↔encode cycle is broken by a shared frame-types leaf, and vdisplay→encode (can_open_another_session) is a legal one-way edge since encode never references vdisplay. Verified: Linux (home-worker-5) clippy -p pf-host-config -p punktfunk-host --all-targets -D warnings; Windows (192.168.1.158) clippy --features nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets green. refactor(host/W6.1): extract secret/config-dir helpers into the pf-paths leaf crate
Second de-coupling for the host crate carve (plan §W6.1 leaf). config_dir / create_private_dir / write_secret_file (+ the Windows DACL helpers) were pub(crate) in the gamestream junk drawer, yet consumed by vdisplay, stats, gpu, library, mgmt_token, native_pairing and the Windows service — many of which become pf-media / pf-vdisplay, for which crate::gamestream would be an illegal upward edge. New leaf crate pf-paths (pure std + tracing) owns them; ~40 call sites across 14 files repoint to pf_paths::. gamestream keeps only its own concerns. Verified: Linux (home-worker-5) clippy -p pf-paths -p punktfunk-host --all-targets -D warnings + tests (347 pass, incl. secrets_are_written_owner_only); Windows (192.168.1.158) clippy --features nvenc,amf-qsv --all-targets green. hooks.json (RFC §6): commands and webhooks fired on host lifecycle events, managed over GET|PUT /api/v1/hooks (validated, applied immediately) and dispatched fire-and-forget by a bus-subscriber runner — hooks observe, never veto, and no operator code sits in any streaming path. - exec: detached sh -c with the event JSON on stdin + flat PF_EVENT_* env (the PF_STREAM_* vocabulary's sibling), per-hook timeout (default 30 s) with process-group kill, off-thread reap, per-hook debounce, bounded concurrency (8 in flight, excess dropped loudly). Windows runs hooks in the interactive user session (temp-file JSON argument; console-mode dev hosts get env + stdin like Unix). - webhook: POST the event JSON, TLS-verified, redirects never followed, no punktfunk credentials outbound; optional per-hook secret file yields X-Punktfunk-Signature: sha256=<hex HMAC> (fails closed if unreadable). - filters: exact-match client/fingerprint/plane/app + the same kind patterns as the SSE ?kinds= filter (shared crate::events::kind_matches). - hardening (RFC §9.1): hooks.json via the private-dir/secret-file helpers; a hook script path must be operator/root-owned and not group/world-writable or it is refused loudly (the sshd rule). - env mirrors PUNKTFUNK_ON_CONNECT_CMD / PUNKTFUNK_ON_DISCONNECT_CMD for the zero-config cases, beside PUNKTFUNK_RECOVER_SESSION_CMD. Live-verified on Linux: PUT config via API → library.changed fired a real script (env + stdin observed) and an HMAC webhook (receiver-verified signature); a chmod-777 script was refused. 342 host tests green (store/validation/filter/env-flatten/exec-timeout/ownership + routes), clippy clean. feat(gamepad): SC2 Puck-dongle passthrough with the native 28DE:1304 topology
Community-contributed round 5 of the Steam Controller 2 passthrough, reviewed + verified. A Puck-captured pad now presents the dongle's real seven-interface identity (CDC pair, four controller HID slots, management HID) instead of relabelling its reports as a wired 1302 — Steam's Puck feature dances (wireless_transport / esb/bond / 0xB4 slot status) get capture-shaped answers, and the wired identity's canned replies are corrected to the real captures (attribute count, string-attr framing, 0xF2 firmware info, bcdDevice nibble encoding). - new wire pref 10 = SteamController2Puck (Hello/Welcome byte; older peers degrade to Auto), selected by the Android capture link when the transport is a dongle, or by VID/PID in the degraded InputDevice path - TRITON_RDESC is now the captured numbered descriptor (mouse/keyboard lizard collections + per-id vendor reports); unnumbered framing made hidraw mangle feature report 2 and Steam eventually closed the device - interrupt-IN now queues sparse reports (battery/RSSI/wireless edges) instead of keeping latest-only, so a 250 Hz state packet can no longer erase them before the USB/IP poll observes them; EP0 SET_REPORT is split by wValue report type (OUTPUT parsed for rumble vs FEATURE) - vendored usbip-sim: config attributes/max-power, IAD prefix + BOS descriptor support, correct BCD minor.patch encoding (Deck's 0x0300/ 0x0200 values are nibble-zero, so its bytes are unchanged), and full-speed interrupt pacing in ms (was 8 kHz from the HS formula) - Triton feedback is serviced at 1 kHz while an SC2 backend exists so Steam's trackpad haptic writes reach the client unbatched Verified: clippy -D warnings + 319 host tests green on Linux, core wire tests green, Android kit/app compile + unit tests green. ci.yml's header-freshness gate caught the stale include/punktfunk_core.h (the ABI constant landed without the regenerated header); the lockfile records pf-client-core's new optional deps (ash, pyrowave-sys). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(host): PyroWave encoder — Phase 1 of the LAN low-latency codec plan
PyroWaveEncoder behind --features pyrowave + an explicit PUNKTFUNK_ENCODER=pyrowave (loud EXPERIMENTAL warning: no client can decode the stream until CODEC_PYROWAVE negotiation lands, plan Phase 2). Design (plan §4.3): a private ash Vulkan-1.3 device shared with pyrowave via pyrowave_create_device — DeviceHold pins the instance/device create-infos the 0.4.0 API requires alive for the device's lifetime. Capture dmabufs pass straight through on ANY vendor (linux_zero_copy_is_vaapi → true for pyrowave; NVIDIA dmabuf→Vulkan import validated by upstream's interop test on .21) with the same per-buffer import cache as the Vulkan Video backend; the shared rgb2yuv.comp BT.709-limited CSC writes R8+RG8 images pyrowave samples directly (R/G view swizzles synthesize Cb/Cr — no NV12 copy). Encode records into OUR command buffer (pyrowave_device_set_command_buffer), so ingest + CSC + encode are one submission with a sub-ms fence wait; the AU is exactly one pyrowave packet, keyframe=true on every frame. reconfigure_bitrate is a free in-place budget change (Phase 3 pins the session rate); reset() recreates only the pyrowave encoder object. Shared ash leaf helpers (dmabuf import, image/memory utils) extracted from vulkan_video.rs into encode/linux/vk_util.rs — vulkan-encode builds unchanged. Validated on .21 (RTX 5070 Ti): pyrowave_smoke green — encodes CPU fills through the full open→CSC→GPU-encode→packetize path, decodes every AU with upstream's own decoder, checks BT.709 plane means ±3; rate retarget + rebuild covered. clippy clean, 308 host tests green with the feature on. feat(host): vendor PyroWave + minimal Granite subset as crates/pyrowave-sys
Phase 0 of design/pyrowave-codec-plan.md — the opt-in wired-LAN ultra-low- latency codec. Vendored at upstream 509e4f88 (API 0.4.0, Granite 44362775, volk + vulkan-headers pins in PUNKTFUNK-VENDOR.txt), pruned to the 6.6 MB the standalone no-renderer build needs; scripts/vendor-pyrowave.sh reproduces the tree (a pin bump is protocol-affecting, plan §4.2). build.rs drives the wrapper CMakeLists (static archives incl. a static C-API lib upstream only ships shared) + bindgen over pyrowave.h; Linux and Windows only, empty stub elsewhere (Apple gets a native Metal port, §4.7). Offline-safe by construction: no network, no system lib, vendored Vulkan headers — same model as the opus dep (flatpak builder has no network). Phase-0 validation on .21 (RTX 5070 Ti, driver 610.43.03): - upstream pyrowave-c-test + interop test (incl. dmabuf/DRM-modifier Vulkan<->Vulkan) pass, from the pristine AND the pruned tree - GPU kernel times at ~1.6 bpp noise: encode/decode 0.090/0.042 ms @800p, 0.146/0.067 @1080p, 0.226/0.103 @1440p, 0.477/0.201 @4K — order of magnitude under NVENC's 1-2 ms retrieve, CBR lands within ~100 B of target - cargo test -p pyrowave-sys green (static link + API-version pin check) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor(gamepad/windows): drop the dead shell fork, use pf-client-core's service
clients/windows/src/gamepad.rs was a 629-line near-verbatim fork of
pf-client-core's SDL gamepad service, frozen at an old single-pad design.

Release 0.9.1 — a patch release led by three field-reported crash/brick fixes, a security-review hardening pass, and the tiered stats overlay landing on every platform. The regression that forces the release: 0.9.0's stats-HUD display stage hard-linked an API-33 NDK symbol believed API-26, so the native library failed to load on every Android < 13 device — "Identity unavailable: …NativeBridge", dead pair button, no discovery. The callback is now dlsym-resolved (pre-13 devices simply lose that one HUD row), and a new CI guard fails the APK build if the native lib ever imports a symbol beyond the API-28 floor. Two more crash-class host fixes ride along. GNOME: one console Approve admitted every parked knock a retrying client had stacked up — three instant Mutter virtual monitors segfaulted gnome-shell down to the GDM greeter; knock generations now admit exactly one, Mutter topology mutations are serialized process-wide, stale session-env is cleared, and an opt-in PUNKTFUNK_RECOVER_SESSION_CMD hook can revive a dead session on the next connect. Windows: twin identical GPUs died in a TEX_FAIL retry loop when the IDD-push ring opened on the wrong twin — the ring now rebinds once onto the render LUID the driver reports, and GPU inventory ordering is LUID-sorted and stable for the boot. Input: held gamepad state is rock-solid — Android pins one qualified pad device (motion-sensor siblings zeroed axes on every event interleave), and pad state now travels as sequence-gated idempotent snapshots (HOST_CAP_GAMEPAD_STATE, negotiated; either end older falls back to the per-transition path). Security review findings addressed: sliding-window anti-replay on the AEAD-authenticated data-plane sequence, 0600 client key + 0700 config dir (existing stores re-locked), the web console's post-login open redirect closed, the Windows installer's FFmpeg DLLs SHA-256-pinned, and a fork guard on PR jobs sharing signing-runner labels. Features: the 3-tier stats overlay (Compact/Normal/Detailed) ships on every platform with cycle shortcuts and settings pickers; Apple gains the experimental stage-3 glass-gated presenter (fixes the hidden 29-30 ms display-stage queue on 120 Hz ProMotion; stage 2 stays default) and a morphing, device-corner-concentric overlay card. Plus repo-wide docs sync and the flatpak CI network hardening. The [workspace.package] version (inherited by every crate via version.workspace) is the release being cut; the 14 workspace entries in Cargo.lock and the api/openapi.json info.version are refreshed to match (CI builds --locked). Canary derives from the tag as minor+1 of the latest stable. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Release 0.9.0 — the Windows client grows up, bitrate goes adaptive, and the console shell arrives. The headline: Windows now runs the same Vulkan session client as Linux (session-always), with a single-window handoff from the shell, a shared settings store, a game library page, and D3D11VA hardware decode slotted into the chain (vulkan → d3d11va → software) — plus polish like hiding the local cursor while captured and a Shortcuts help screen. Alongside it, adaptive bitrate lands end to end: set to Automatic, the client's controller re-targets the host encoder mid-stream (rebuild-in-place, the fresh encoder opens on an IDR) instead of riding a fixed rate into congestion. And the console UI grows into a full gamepad shell — host list, PIN pairing, settings, on-screen keyboard, screen transitions. Apple clients gain AV1 decode (hardware-gated advertisement), user-configurable VRR, Game Mode across platforms, cross-client shortcuts, an opt-in V-Sync, and a presenter rework; a stream error now returns to windowed like a disconnect does. Codec selection is real everywhere: clients advertise what their GPU actually decodes and the host picks accordingly — and AV1 encode on Windows NVENC actually opens now: the init stamped HEVC HIGH tier and (on 10-bit sessions) the HEVC Main10 profile GUID onto the AV1 config, so every AV1 session died at the encoder with INVALID_PARAM. AV1 now rides its preset defaults where they are the only accepted values (Main tier, autoselect level — 0 means Level 2.0 on AV1, not autoselect), sets its bit depths on its own config, and a rejected split-encode mode falls back cleanly from AUTO too. Verified live: 10-bit AV1 macOS → RTX 4090. Android's stats HUD headline becomes true capture→displayed via OnFrameRendered, custom resolutions land in both Android UIs (typed W×H in touch settings, kept selectable on the pad — the Apple pattern), and the 3-finger stats tap actually fires now (the two-finger scroll centroid read the third finger's landing as a scroll notch and disqualified the tap). The console shell gates input the instant A starts a Wake-on-LAN connect — the "Waking…" card shows immediately instead of the cursor drifting ungated until the stream abruptly appeared. The web console gets a favicon, Punktfunk-cased branding, a save toast for the auto-saved display policy, and a stop-session button that only goes red when there is a session to stop. Reliability work on the host closes out a long field investigation into periodic virtual-display stutter: the IDD capture path no longer runs CCD display queries on the capture thread (a dedicated poller samples them, measures them, and warns when something is holding the Windows display-config lock), transient descriptor blips can no longer tear the ring down (last- known-good + a two-strikes debounce), and a metronomic keyframe-recovery cycle now names itself in the host log instead of hiding in "nothing in the logs". The GPU inventory filters out IddCx ghost adapters — every host used to list its render GPU twice (pf-vdisplay's adapter mirrors the GPU's whole DXGI identity), with the picker offering a dead twin. Also: per-client display scaling on GNOME hosts (Mutter virtual monitors), the shared-VkQueue race + swapchain recreate-in-use fix behind the intermittent device-lost stream killer, per-family MTU shard sizing (1388 over IPv6 — the v6 blackhole gate), mDNS discovery pinned to IPv4 on every client, reachability-probed presence with shareable Decky host management, --no-mdns/--pairing-pin for headless testing, and an offline-flatpak build fix. The [workspace.package] version (inherited by every crate via version.workspace) is the release being cut; the 14 workspace entries in Cargo.lock and the api/openapi.json info.version are refreshed to match (CI builds --locked). Canary derives from the tag as minor+1 of the latest stable (scripts/ci/pf-version.sh), so cutting 0.9.0 advances canary to 0.10.0. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(clients/android): OnFrameRendered display stage — HUD headline becomes capture→displayed
The long-deferred Android display stage (design/stats-unification.md; plan 4.1 of design/client-parity-and-network-resilience.md): AMediaCodec_setOnFrameRenderedCallback (API 26, under the minSdk-28 floor ⇒ hard-linked via ndk-sys) reports SurfaceFlinger's per-frame render timestamp, giving the HUD the spec's `display` = decoded→displayed term and the directly-measured capture→displayed end-to-end headline on both decode loops. Falls back per spec to the v1 capture→decoded endpoint on any window without render callbacks (the platform may drop them under load), and to it permanently if registration is refused. - The render timestamp arrives on CLOCK_MONOTONIC; it's re-based onto CLOCK_REALTIME against monotonic-now at callback time, which also cancels the (batchable) callback delivery lag. - The `ndk` crate exposes neither the callback nor the codec pointer needed to bind it raw, so the workspace pins `ndk` 0.9.0 to a vendored copy (clients/android/native/ vendor/ndk) whose ONLY change makes MediaCodec::as_ptr public — the "as_ptr patch". Workspace-excluded so host builds never compile it; drop when upstream exposes either. - nativeVideoStats grows to 26 doubles (22–25: dispValid, displayP50, e2eDispP50/P95; 0–21 unchanged for older readers); StatsOverlay moves headline endpoint + equation together so the equation always tiles the headline interval. Verified: host cargo check/test/clippy, aarch64-linux-android check/clippy, Kotlin app+kit+tests compile, roborazzi HUD render shows the full 4-term equation. Device verification rides plan 4.2's phone A/B. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(clients/windows): D3D11VA hardware decode in the session client — Vulkan chain becomes vulkan → d3d11va → software
The vendor-agnostic DXVA path for GPUs without Vulkan Video (Intel's Windows driver foremost, which previously landed on CPU decode). Ported from the retired WinUI presenter's decoder with its Intel-safe discipline intact (decode pool stays libavcodec-derived — a hand-built pool broke Intel at the first SubmitDecoderBuffers), on a decode device LUID-matched to the presenter's adapter. Hand-off is a ring of shareable BGRA8 textures (SHARED_NTHANDLE | SHARED_KEYEDMUTEX) filled by the fixed-function ID3D11VideoProcessor (NV12/P010 → BGRA8, colour spaces from the per-frame CICP; PQ is tone-mapped to SDR by the processor — HDR-first boxes take Vulkan Video). BGRA is deliberate: importing a multiplanar NV12 D3D11 texture device-losts on NVIDIA however it is consumed (plane-view sampling and DMA copy both validation-clean, both TDR — bisected), while single-plane RGBA D3D11↔Vulkan interop is the path Chromium/ANGLE exercise on every driver. The presenter imports a slot's NT handle per frame (VK_KHR_external_memory_win32, gated on the spec-required external-format probe) and blits it into the video image — no CSC pass; the DXGI keyed mutex (key 0 both sides, drop-tolerant) is the cross-API lock and visibility barrier. Verified live vs a real host at 5120x1440@240 HEVC on an RTX 4090: 240 fps, e2e 2.7/3.0 ms p50/p95 under the Khronos validation layer — parity with Vulkan Video (2.6 ms); auto still resolves vulkan on NVIDIA. PUNKTFUNK_DECODER=d3d11va forces it; import/present failures demote to software on the existing streak contract. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

The Skia console UI grows from the single library coverflow into a complete couch shell (Apple gamepad-UI parity), so a Deck/gamescope session is self-sufficient end to end: - Home: host carousel (saved + discovered + Add Host tile) with presence pips, paired locks, wake & connect; A/Y/X/B per the Apple launcher. - In-console SPAKE2 PIN pairing (previously needed the Decky plugin or a desktop), add-host with a controller keyboard, couch settings over the shared Settings store, wake-on-LAN overlay with retry, cancelable dials. - Shell chrome: screen stack with push/pop entrance/exit choreography (slide + fade + recede; aurora↔form backdrop crossfade), per-pad button glyphs (PS shapes vs ABXY, keycaps with no pad), menu haptics, toasts, embedded Geist typography, in-stream start banner. - Steam Deck: our OSK never draws — fields start SDL text input (the new Overlay::text_input_active hook) and Steam's keyboard types; a hint chip points at STEAM + X. Other Linux gets the full gamepad keyboard tray. - punktfunk-session: bare --browse opens Home; --browse host opens that host's library with Home behind it (Decky launches keep working, B now pops instead of quitting). Service threads run discovery, 10 s probes, pairing, wake loops, fetches, and known-hosts persistence. - Presenter contract: Launch actions carry the host, CancelConnect never engages a won race, pad kind/list ride FrameCtx, menu events flow while dialing so B can cancel. Every screen renders to PNG on CPU raster for review (PF_CONSOLE_DUMP=<dir> cargo test -p pf-console-ui -- --ignored dump). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(clients/windows): single-window handoff, shared settings store, console-UI surfacing
UX polish batch 1 (clients/windows/ui-polish-plan.md, workstreams W0/A1/B/C/E):
- W0: the shell's duplicated trust/settings structs are gone — src/trust.rs
re-exports pf-client-core's, so the shell and the spawned session binary share
ONE Settings shape over client-windows-settings.json. Fixes real bugs: the
shell's saves no longer drop session-side fields; the stats-overlay toggle
(show_hud -> show_stats, serde alias migrates old files) and the forwarded-
controller pick now actually reach the spawned session. The "Streaming engine"
Settings combo is gone (PUNKTFUNK_BUILTIN_STREAM=1 stays as the dev A/B knob).
- Forwarded-controller pinning by stable key (vid:pid:name, pf-client-core's
format): persisted as forward_pad, applied by the shell's own service at
startup AND by the session binary in session_params (both OSes — the session
never applied the pin before).
- A1 single window: the shell hides itself when the spawned session window
presents its first frame ({"ready":true}) and restores + foregrounds on the
child's exit — exactly one visible Punktfunk window at any time. Restore runs
before the request-access cancel gate so a Ready/Cancel race can't strand the
shell hidden.
- C console UI: punktfunk-session --browse gains --json-status (ready when the
library window presents; error line on a failed start), and the shell
surfaces it — "Open console UI" on paired hosts' menus, plus a controller-
detected hint card targeting the most recent paired host (x64 only; aarch64
ships no skia ui feature). Browse spawns hide/restore the shell like streams.
- B responsive: minimum window size (420x360); the hosts header collapses to
icon-only buttons below 700 px; the session status card shrinks instead of
clipping (max_width); busy pages, help actions, licenses and long labels wrap.
- E polish: session exe gets the app icon (winresource + WM_SETICON via the new
pf-presenter win32.rs); both exes share an explicit AppUserModelID on
unpackaged runs (packaged identity wins) so the windows group as one taskbar
app across the visibility handoff; "Start streams fullscreen" toggle passes
--fullscreen (GTK parity); connects stamp KnownHost::last_used; the connect
target is stashed for every route so "Connecting to X" always names the host.

feat(clients/windows): port the Vulkan session client to Windows — session-always
The punktfunk-session Vulkan client (clients/linux-session, now clients/session) builds and runs on Windows; the WinUI shell spawns it for every stream. Verified live: 10-bit HEVC via Vulkan Video on both AMD (iGPU) and NVIDIA, 5120x1440 at 130 fps / 8 ms end-to-end on the RTX 4090. - pf-ffvk: Windows bindgen branch (FFMPEG_DIR + PF_FFVK_VULKAN_INCLUDE, no pkg-config); provisioning fetches Vulkan-Headers (pinned v1.4.309). - pf-client-core: builds on Windows — WASAPI audio (audio_wasapi.rs, cfg-swapped via #[path], same surface as the PipeWire twin), VAAPI/dmabuf gated inline (chain = vulkan -> software), trust reads the WinUI shell's %APPDATA% stores (parity tests pin both serialized shapes), Settings gains adapter/hdr_enabled (serde-defaulted; Linux stores unaffected). - pf-presenter: builds on Windows — dmabuf module Linux-gated; SDL keyboard grab while captured (Alt+Tab/Win reach the host); pick_device ranks discrete over integrated (device 0 was the iGPU on hybrid boxes — the silent footgun) and honors PUNKTFUNK_VK_ADAPTER (the Settings GPU pick, exported by the session). - run loop: block in one SDL wait woken by input AND decoded frames (a per- session forwarder pushes a FrameWake user event) instead of a 1 ms poll — measured 111%% -> 5%% of a core (NVIDIA), 86%% -> 3.5%% (AMD), stats unchanged. The pump's decode-fence wait became once-per-window sampling (no per-frame pipeline stall; the stat now shows true backlog). - pf-console-ui: builds on Windows (skia-safe msvc prebuilts); font lookup falls through fontconfig aliases to concrete DirectWrite families (Consolas/Segoe UI) — browse/coverflow works, verified against a live host. - WinUI shell: session-always via new src/spawn.rs (GTK spawn.rs port — CREATE_NO_WINDOW, stdout contract, kill handle); the Stream screen is a status card (chips + stage lines from the child's stats). The legacy in-process D3D11VA path stays behind Settings "Streaming engine" / PUNKTFUNK_BUILTIN_ STREAM=1 as the A/B baseline until Phase 8 deletes it. SessionParams.video_caps makes the HDR toggle real. - clients/linux-session renamed to clients/session (builds for both OSes). - CI/MSIX: both workflows build/test both bins with widened path filters; the MSIX ships punktfunk-session.exe. ARM64 session builds --no-default-features (rust-skia has no aarch64-pc-windows-msvc prebuilts; flip when it does). A/B on this box (5120x1440 HEVC vs home-worker-5): NVIDIA Vulkan 130 fps / 8 ms e2e / 1.6 ms decode — clearly better than the built-in path. The AMD iGPU VCN saturates at ~52 fps where its own D3D11VA does ~70 — Adrenalin Vulkan decode is slower on APU silicon; discrete RDNA validation gates Phase 8.
