Structural, because tuning the transform values was treating a symptom. A scroll transition derives its phase from the geometry of the view it wraps, and the entrance was wrapping each card on the OUTSIDE - so it moved the very thing the transition measures. Every card read as far from centre for the whole travel, phase pinned at fully receded, and the centred card only collapsed into its focused look as the entrance ended. That collapse was the jump; shrinking the offset last round only made it smaller. The card builder now hands each caller its own CardEntrance and both the launcher and the coverflow apply it BENEATH their .scrollTransition. The transition measures a card that never moves and composes its scale and rotation on top of the entrance's, so the two can no longer fight - and the fuller travel is back (34 pt rise) now that the geometry constraint that forced it down to 16 is gone. |

Two follow-ups from the second on-glass pass: - The tray blur's pop-in survived the geometryGroup: the full-bleed growth (negative padding + safe-area expansion) rode the push's transaction, and safe-area resolution sits outside a geometry group. The scrim now pins its own geometry out of any animation - the layer fade/slide still carries it, only its SHAPE can never animate. The bottom overshoot grows 32 -> 72 pt (the tray sits over scrolling rows plus the detail line; the blur influence starts well above the legend now) and the mask holds strength longer before dissolving. - The selected tab pill is a Liquid Glass surface (accent-tinted through consoleGlass, material fallback pre-26/tvOS) - the strip wears the same material language as the rows below it. The matched-geometry travel between pills is unchanged. |

Six findings from the on-device pass over #91, all iOS-facing: - The tray blurs no longer grow into place on a push: the screen layer resolves its internal layout (safe-area trays, the scrims' full-bleed) in a geometryGroup BEFORE the insertion animates. - The option band is LINEAR now, not a ring. A ring showed the first option waiting to the right of the last one - unreachable, since left/right clamps - and on a 2-option ring the unselected item flipped sides with every step (the 60/120 Hz row). Positions are fixed, the ends are the ends, and A's wrap travels back across the list. Options other than the facing one exist only while the drum is moving, so a long label never sits under a resting neighbour as overlapping text. - Toggles (and the pin rows) ride the band too: Off left of On, matching the left-off/right-on step semantics. - The close X is gone from settings, add-host and the library - a gamepad UI exits with B. A chromeless cancel button keeps hardware Esc and the macOS sheet working, and the library's loading/error/empty states gain a zero-size B listener so a controller-only user is never trapped where the coverflow (and its B) doesn't exist yet. - The heading is a real heading: leading-aligned with the 24 pt content inset, 24/34 pt (was 20/30), top margin 18/28 (was 10/18) - launcher, settings, add-host and library alike. The launcher's hidden-mirror chip trick died with the centred title that needed it. Verified: swift build (macOS), swift build --triple arm64-apple-ios17.0, swift test 208 passed / 0 failed. |

Four reworks from the first palette-era on-glass review, all iOS-facing: - Surfaces carry the palette now, not just the text on them: ConsoleGlass washes every tier (Liquid Glass tint, pre-26 material, tvOS material) with ink.glass — the same colour the desktop console fills its panels with — and the close buttons move to an ink-aware consoleGlassBackground. The pre-26 branch also gains the focus tint it had silently dropped. Stray literals follow: ConnectOverlay text rides ink in the console takeover, card shadows soften on pale fields, the focused keycap reads onAccent. The online pip stays status-green on purpose. - The header breathes: title top padding 4/10 -> 10/18 plus shared header-spacing and title-bottom helpers mapped from the console shell's rhythm, applied to the launcher, settings and add-host alike, with the add-host close X re-anchored to the title row. - Settings, Add Host and the Library present IN PLACE on iOS: one persistent aurora whose calm is chased (the console's bg_mix), screens as transparent layers with the console's 0.26 s ease-out-cubic push/pop, an input drop for the transition, and the controller handed off through isActive — no more opaque bottom-up covers, no backdrop teardown. macOS keeps its sheets, tvOS its focus-engine covers. - The settings select is a real band: choice rows mount GamepadOptionBand, a spring-driven drum (Animatable body, ring-distance wrap, neighbours gated by focus and flight) whose retargeting spring accumulates rapid steps into one continuous spin. Reduce Motion falls back to a plain crossfade; toggles keep the quiet 14 pt slip. Verified: swift build (macOS), swift build --triple arm64-apple-ios17.0, swift test 208 passed / 0 failed. On-glass QA still owed: palette sweep on a pale palette, transition compositing over materials, drum feel on device. |

The first pass built each palette by rotating ONE colour field's hue, and it
showed: every option was a single tone at several brightnesses, which reads flat
next to any real gradient. A palette is now an ordered ramp of DISTINCT hues.
The 4×4 mesh samples that ramp along the diagonal with a fixed per-cell offset
table, so neighbouring cells land on different parts of it and the colours pool
and swirl instead of banding; the control points' existing drift then moves the
pools around. Violet keeps its explicit sixteen colours, so the default is
untouched.
Twelve of them now, dark first then pale: Violet, Nebula, Abyss, Ember, Moss,
Graphite, then Holo, Sunset, Bloom, Dawn, Mint, Opal. Holo and Sunset are
straight takes on the two reference gradients — foil and poster.
`every_palette_is_multi_tone` measures the hue spread across all sixteen cells
and fails under 45° (20° for Graphite and Opal, which are meant to be
restrained). It caught Ember at 35°, all reds and oranges — the very flatness
this rework exists to remove — and Graphite at 3° despite a comment claiming it
drifted cool to warm. Both were rebuilt until the numbers matched the prose.
The UI follows the palette now, rather than wearing brand violet over whatever
happens to be behind it. Each palette carries an accent and a light flag, and an
Ink derived from those (foreground, accent, on-accent, glass, scrim and its
strength) is published to the whole tree — a thread-local in the console, an
environment value on Apple, a CompositionLocal on Android. Pale palettes flip
the ink: dark text on white frost, with the materials, tray scrims and every
wash that sits under text following suit.
Three things only the renders could have told us:
- Additive blending blows out over a pale ground. Android's blobs and Apple's
legacy field composite with Plus/plusLighter, which over near-white
saturates every blob to white — Holo rendered as a grey wash. Pale palettes
blend normally.
- A white scrim at the dark field's strength BLEACHES the gradient. Mixing
toward black at 0.4 reads as depth; toward white at 0.4 destroys the chroma
it is drawn over. The scrim now carries a per-palette strength.
- White glass over a bright field has far less separating it from its backdrop
than dark glass over a dark one, and needed more body.
Verified: console build + clippy -D warnings + 173 tests, Apple build + 200
tests + an iOS-triple typecheck, Android compile + 62 tests, and eyeball passes
on real renders of both the vivid and the pale ends (console CPU rasters; a new
Roborazzi light-palette scene, which is what exposed the blend-mode bug).

A field report from an iPad: the host is not found on first run, and
restarting the client finds it. Pull-to-refresh appeared to do nothing.
Both were real. The Apple client's discovery had three ways to go
permanently deaf, each needing an app relaunch to clear:
- A failed resolve was never retried. `browseResultsChangedHandler`
only fires when the result SET changes, and a host whose resolve
failed is still in the set — so nothing ever re-offered it.
- A stuck resolve never ended. `NWConnection` has no timeout, so the
throwaway UDP flow used to resolve an address could sit in
`.preparing`/`.waiting` forever, and a service with a connection in
flight was skipped.
- `NWBrowser` parking in `.waiting` was ignored (only `.failed`
re-armed). On iOS that is where the local-network privacy prompt
lands on first launch after install: the browse starts, the system
asks, and the browser waits. Granting does not revive that browser —
only a new one sees the grant. That is the reported first-run bug.
HostDiscovery now runs a 1 Hz sweep that times out stuck resolves,
retries failed ones on a 1→30 s backoff, and re-arms a browser that
stopped working; the advert's TXT is re-read on every browse report, so
a host that re-keys or flips its pairing policy is followed. Returning
to the foreground re-arms the browse (iOS/tvOS: `onAppear` does not
fire across background/foreground, and a suspended browse stays dead).
Pull-to-refresh did nothing because there was no `.refreshable` in the
client at all. Added, plus the explicit control the report asked for:
a toolbar Refresh on iOS/macOS, an action-row button on tvOS, a Rescan
tile in the gamepad launcher, Scan Again on the empty state, a
header-bar button in the GTK client, a hosts-page button on Windows,
and Scan again on Android. Decky already had one.
The desktop/Android browses needed a rescan trigger to make those
buttons mean anything: mdns-sd re-queries on a doubling backoff capped
at ONE HOUR, so a long-lived browse is effectively passive and a host
that appears later can stay invisible. `discovery::Rescan` forces a
fresh query; the wake-and-wait loops use it too, so a host that just
booted is noticed in seconds rather than at the next backoff tick.
Also fixed, found on the way: clients/windows/src/discovery.rs is a
second copy of the browse that

fix(apple/shots): the store screenshots show the app as it actually is
Uploading the 0.24.0 set surfaced a pair screen that reads as broken, and a hero that was never the orientation it claimed. The capture harness: - Landscape scenes were captured in PORTRAIT. `IOSOrientationConfigurator` asked for the geometry update from `updateUIViewController`, where `view.window` is still nil — SwiftUI makes one update pass for a `.background` representable, before the hierarchy is in a window, so the guard fell through and nothing ever asked again. Both `.landscape` scenes (the stream hero, the trust card) shipped as portrait. Now a real UIViewController asks from `viewDidAppear` and pins `supportedInterfaceOrientations`. - The shot host applied `.ignoresSafeArea()` to the whole scene, so the hero's HUD — resolution, bitrate, the latency breakdown, the entire point of that screenshot — sat under the Dynamic Island. Only the black backing ignores it now; scenes that want full bleed already ignore it themselves. - `03-pair` was hand-composed into a ZStack rather than presented. PairSheet is a bottom sheet on iOS: its detents and the system's Liquid Glass only exist inside a real `.sheet`. Composed, the grouped Form stretched to full screen height and the capture was a strip of content over a black void, with a DISABLED "Pair & Connect" (empty PIN) and the capture simulator's own name — `pf-shot-iphone-6.9` — rendered in as the device name. - Sheets do not inherit `.environment(\.colorScheme, .dark)` across the presentation boundary; they follow the DEVICE. The pairing sheet came out light grey over the dark app. The simulator is now set to dark appearance. - Discovery browsed the live LAN mid-capture, so a bystanding machine's hostname went out on the listing and no two runs matched. `HostDiscovery` gains a `debugSet` seam (the counterpart to `HostWaker.debugSet`); the mock hosts advertise, so cards read ONLINE through the real `advertises` path and the reachability probe never touches the network. - Created simulators were named `pf-shot-<prefix>`, which the reuse regex never matches: every run created another simulator and none was reused. They are named after the device now — reusable, and not user-visible junk. Two bugs found on the way, neither screenshot-only: - HostStore/ProfileStore PERSISTED the harness's mock data. On a dev Mac that is the same App-Group suite the real app reads, so running the script could replace the tester's saved hosts with "Battlestation" & co. - GamepadHomeView drew the controller chip as a trailing `.overlay`, which reserves no width — on a portrait phone it sat on top of the centred "Select a Host". Laid out as a row with a hidden leading mirror. - The pairing sheet's field prompt said "How the host lists this Mac" on iPhone and iPad. Coverage: the listing set is six scenes in listing order, and is now the stream, the machines it found, the couch/controller mode, waking a sleeping host, the quality controls and pairing — the console and wake screens already existed in `ShotScenes.all` and were simply never captured. Mock hosts carry OS marks, Wake-on-LAN MACs and profile chips so the grid is full rather than three offline rows over an empty half-screen. `SCENES=` overrides the set for the dev scenes. |

GamepadSettingsView gains a trailing Profiles section (one row per catalog profile, live pinned-to-N-hosts counts) and an in-place pin-to-hosts picker driving HostStore.setPinned — the first pin management reachable from the controller-first UI, and on tvOS the only possible one. tvOS wording drops the 'create them in the standard interface' promise (no profile editor exists there); other platforms keep it. Pinned-card rendering and the connect path were already in from WP5 and stay untouched. |

Apple parity with the Android card (a94b1d3c's sibling): the OS mark moves out of the status row and into the tile, replacing the monogram. The initial says nothing the name beside it doesn't already say — twice over on a row of home-worker-N boxes — while the mark identifies the machine at a glance. Both host surfaces, because on tvOS the console home is the only one there is: the touch cards (saved and discovered) and GamepadHomeView's badge, which needed the chain carried on HomeTile to reach it. Sized to the monogram's own point size, so it lands at ~48% of the tile everywhere, and tinted through the same foregroundStyle the letter used — the assets are template imagesets, so they follow it like an SF Symbol. A host that advertises no OS chain, or one we ship no art for, keeps its letter: `osIconImage` already returns nil for both, so a mixed row still reads as one set. The mark carries the accessibility label now, since the status row it used to ride no longer names the OS. fix(client/apple): three things the first on-glass run found
Reset read as prose. Next to "Overrides Default settings" in the same tint and the same size, the one action that can undo an override looked like the third word of the notice. It is a bordered control now, pushed to the far edge of the caption line with an undo glyph. The scope switcher showed above the About tab. It sat over the whole macOS TabView, so on the acknowledgements page — which edits nothing — it read as belonging to them. The tabs are tagged and the switcher sits that one out. Pinned cards were taller than their host's. The profile chip had a line of its own, so a card with a profile and one without were different heights and a pin stuck out of its grid row. The chip rides the title line instead, which is also where it reads as "this card connects with that". feat(client/apple): bind a host to a profile, connect with one, pin one as its own card
The host surfaces (design §5.2/§5.2a). A bound host wears a tinted chip that says what a click will do. The card menu grows "Connect with ▸" — a ONE-OFF that never rebinds, with a checkmark on the binding and an explicit "Set Default Profile" as its last item for the users who do want to rebind from there — plus "Pin as Card ▸" and "Copy Link". A pinned host+profile combo becomes its own card next to its host: same record, same live status, the profile as the prominent subtitle, one click to connect. It is an extra grid ENTRY, never a duplicated host record — duplicating would fork pairing, Wake-on-LAN and renames. Its menu carries only connect-shaped actions; edit, pair, forget and remove stay on the primary card, where the thing they act on lives. On the gamepad carousel and tvOS the same pins are tiles, which is the whole point: focus-and-press is what those surfaces do well, and menus are not. The edit sheet binds and pins; both rows vanish when no profiles exist, so a user who never makes one sees exactly today's sheet. A dangling binding renders as "Default settings (profile deleted)" and is cleaned up on save. The speed test finally writes where the tested host reads. Unbound: the global, as before. Bound to a profile that overrides bitrate: that override. Bound to one that inherits it: both are offered, because either is defensible and guessing would silently pick one. Every button names its target, and the probe now runs at the mode that host would actually stream — the measurement is the streaming path. Shortcuts gains `ProfileEntity` over the App-Group catalog and a Profile parameter on Connect, still round-tripping through the URL router rather than opening a second connect path. Connect and Wake drop their iOS wall — AppIntents is real on macOS and tvOS, and "Stream Desktop with Work" from Spotlight was the ask; only the phrases provider stays iOS-gated, since it bundles the LiveActivityIntent. Three client-UX changes that share the connect/present path (and settings files): - Connect/wake overlay is now mode-aware: the console/gamepad UI keeps the full-screen aurora takeover, while the default (touch/desktop) UI shows a Liquid Glass modal over the host grid — the takeover looked out of place there. - Add an auto-wake toggle (DefaultsKey.autoWake, default on) across macOS/iOS/tvOS Settings + the gamepad settings view; gate startSession/prepareWake and the gamepad "Wake & Connect" label on it. MAC-address learning stays always-on. - Windowed sessions now stream at the window's native pixels (Match-window default-on) so the picture is 1:1 pixel-exact instead of the presenter resampling a fixed-mode frame; fullscreen reports full-display px, also 1:1. Also lands the mid-resize aspect-fit tracking (decoded contentSize) that keeps the picture undistorted after a resize. swift build + swift test (121 tests) green; screenshot scenes verified. Give instant feedback the moment a host is picked, and make the wake wait a full-screen takeover instead of a modal card — unified into one ConnectOverlay across every client: - android: new ConnectOverlay (aurora backdrop; Connecting / Waking / timed-out phases) replaces the tiny inline "Connecting…" row and the WakeOverlay card. The dial phase is now cancelable and hands off to the wake wait in one frame. - console (pf-console-ui): the connect/wake overlays become a full-screen aurora takeover (draw_takeover) instead of a centered card over a dim scrim; the Waking → Connecting handoff no longer blinks. - apple: new ConnectOverlay mirrors it (macOS / iOS / tvOS), replacing the per-tile connecting spinner + the WakeOverlay card; instant "Connecting…" from model.phase, and the carousel is gated inactive during the dial. Also enable Wake-on-LAN on iOS/tvOS now that the multicast entitlement is approved: enable com.apple.developer.networking.multicast and flip wakeOnLANAvailable to true on every platform (MACs were already learned from mDNS, so wake works immediately). Verified: Android compileDebugKotlin + screenshot renders; console clippy + 36 tests + rendered phases on Linux; Apple swift build + 121 tests + rendered phases. The console UI now runs on tvOS through the NATIVE focus engine: carousel cards and settings rows are focusable Buttons (Siri Remote and pads both navigate; imperative scrollTo replaces the drop-prone scrollPosition binding), while iOS/macOS keep the 60 Hz poll untouched - on tvOS it carries only what focus has no concept of: X/Y screen actions and left/right value adjust with the poll's dominant-axis feel (onMoveCommand proved input-source-dependent: keyboard intercepted, pad dpad not -> double steps). Text entry uses the system fullscreen keyboard (TVTextEntry); pairing + library present as covers under the launcher; the game library defaults ON; settings values slide a quiet 14 pt in the step's direction. Session controls: controller/remote input routes EXCLUSIVELY through GameController during a stream (GCEventViewController, interaction disabled) - a pad's B no longer doubles as a UIKit menu press that ended sessions mid-game. Deliberate exits only: the cross-client escape chord (hold L1+R1+Start+Select 1.5 s - pf-client-core's contract, now implemented on all Apple platforms) and holding the remote's Back >= 1 s; the start-of-stream banner (now also on tvOS) teaches both. The Siri Remote's touch surface drives the host pointer - press = left click, Play/Pause = right click, release-tail jumps gated so motion stays truly relative. tvOS 26 regressions fixed at the root: the app-wide brand tint rendered every unfocused control as a blank pill (tint dropped on tvOS) and the 17 pt root font shrank the whole platform (29 pt there), plus 10-foot sizing across host cards, the gamepad screens, and the stats HUD (whose misleading "Press Menu" hint is gone). Acknowledgements scrolls by focus-sized chunks and Menu pops instead of suspending; full-width focusSections make the home actions reachable from any column. The presenter defaults to stage-3 glass pacing on tvOS (a 60 Hz panel fed a 60 fps stream is the sticky-FIFO worst case behind the 50 ms display stage) and is pickable from the gamepad settings; HDR capability advertises from AVPlayer.eligibleForHDRPlayback instead of the current mode's EDR headroom, so an SDR home screen no longer hides an HDR TV. Add a bounded, trust-agnostic, mDNS-INDEPENDENT QUIC reachability probe and surface it everywhere saved-host presence is shown, so a host reached over a routed network (Tailscale/VPN/multicast-filtering LAN) no longer reads Offline just because it isn't advertising — the display-side companion to the 0.8.4 dial-first connect fix. Core: - punktfunk-core: NativeClient::probe (bounded handshake; a real host answers even on trust mismatch, a wrong/closed/TCP-only port fails) + punktfunk_probe C ABI (ABI_VERSION 3->4, header regenerated). - pf-client-core: trust::probe_reachable_many (parallel per-host sweep). Presence pips now read `advertising OR probed-reachable`, refreshed by a ~10-12s background sweep off the UI thread: - Linux (relm4): ui_hosts probed map + HostsMsg::Probed sweep. - Windows (windows-reactor): pf-probe worker -> HostsProps.probed. - Apple (SwiftUI): HostStore.refreshReachability, driven by HomeView + GamepadHomeView .task. - Android (Compose): nativeProbe JNI seam + periodic LaunchedEffect (LNP-gated), online dot added to the touch HostCard. - Decky already probes via --list-hosts --probe. Decky client: make the flatpak client's known-hosts store the single source of truth via new headless CLI modes (--list-hosts / --add-host / --set-host / --forget-host / --reset / --reachable). The plugin can now add a host by address, edit/forget hosts, reset all state (keeping the client identity), and shows probe-backed online pips — state is shared with the desktop client, not duplicated. Also lands in-progress Android 17 LNP groundwork (targetSdk 37 + ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK runtime flow, permission dialogs) that was already present in the working tree. Verified: cargo check + clippy clean (punktfunk-core, pf-client-core, linux, android native); android assembleDebug BUILD SUCCESSFUL; decky typecheck + rollup build clean; probe true/false-positive behaviour exercised against a live host. - HostWaker + WakeOverlay: after sending the Wake-on-LAN packet, wait until the host is really back (resend + mDNS poll, timeout, cancel/retry) before connecting. macOS-only in practice — WoL stays gated off on iOS/tvOS pending the multicast entitlement. - Add/Edit host sheet gains a Wake-on-LAN MAC field, prefilled from the stored MAC or the live mDNS advert; parseMacs validates aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff. - Gamepad chrome/home and glass-style polish. feat(apple): gamepad UI v2 — controller settings + add host, aurora, macOS
Sources reorganized (client: Home/Session/Settings/Stores/Support/Trust; kit: Audio/Connection/Gamepad/Input/Support/Video/Views) with the big files split along the same seams. The gamepad mode is couch-complete, and now on macOS too (the living-room Mac case), not just iOS/iPadOS: - GamepadSettingsView: a console-style, fully controller-navigable settings screen (X from the launcher) — up/down moves focus, left/right steps values (clamped, boundary thud), A cycles/toggles, B closes; the focused row shows a one-line description. Backed by GamepadMenuList, the vertical sibling of GamepadCarousel, and SettingsOptions — the option lists hoisted out of SettingsView statics and shared by the touch, tvOS and gamepad settings. - GamepadAddHostView + GamepadKeyboard: register a host end to end with a pad — field rows open an on-screen controller keyboard (dpad grid, A types, X backspaces, B done); the launcher carousel ends in an Add Host tile, so the dead-end "add one with touch first" empty state is gone. - Launcher polish: contextual hint bar with the pad's real button glyphs, controller name + battery chip, one shared console chrome. - GamepadScreenBackground: an animated aurora (TimelineView-driven drifting blobs in the brand's violet family, breathing radii, slow hue shift, legibility scrim; freezes under Reduce Motion). Pure SwiftUI on purpose — a .metal library only bundles reliably in one of the two build systems (SPM vs the xcodeproj's synced folders) these sources compile under. - macOS port: settings/add-host/library present as sized sheets (a macOS sheet takes its content's IDEAL size, and the GeometryReader-driven screens collapsed to nothing), NSScreen-based mode lists, scroll indicators .never (the "always show scroll bars" setting overrides .hidden), tray scrims so scrolled rows dim under the pinned title/hints, extra title clearance, and a PUNKTFUNK_FORCE_GAMEPAD_UI=1 dev hook — launcher/settings/add-host/keyboard/ library render-verified live on a real Mac + LAN hosts. - GamepadMenuInput: X button support, and (re)start now snapshots held buttons so a controller handoff press never fires twice (the B that closed the keyboard no longer also cancels the screen underneath). - Cleanups: one "Connection failed" alert in ContentView instead of one per home screen; HostDiscovery.advertises/unsaved shared by both home screens. - host: can_encode_444 stub for the non-Linux/Windows host build (the macOS synthetic-source loopback used by the Swift tests).
