The Apple and Android apps carry their own copy of THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt
and show it on the acknowledgements screen. `7fc2775f` refreshed the root
file but not the copies — running the python generator directly skips the
sync `scripts/gen-third-party-notices.sh` does — so they had drifted to a
531-crate snapshot that predates the whole vendored-source section.

That section is where the OS marks' attribution lives, so both apps have
been shipping Font Awesome's CC BY 4.0 icons with no attribution visible
at all. Re-synced, which also carries the Bazzite Apache-2.0 notice the
previous commit adds.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 5 5520167958 feat(clients): the OS marks tell gaming distros apart, and Windows looks current
Three things were wrong with the host-card OS icons.

The Windows mark was Font Awesome 5's, which is still the Windows 8/10 flag
with the perspective skew — dated next to the flat four-pane mark Microsoft
has shipped since Windows 11. No icon set has the current one (Simple Icons
carries no windows/microsoft slug at all), so it is drawn here: four equal
squares at the authentic 11.377 + 1.246 proportion. The Decky plugin was
pulling FaWindows straight from react-icons, so it now inlines the masters
like the web console does, or it would have kept the old flag regardless.

Bazzite, CachyOS and Nobara collapsed onto their family's mark. The host
already advertises the full chain, so this is purely missing art: all three
now ship a leaf mark, because "a Bazzite box" and "a Fedora box" are
different machines to the person reading the card. CachyOS and Nobara come
from Simple Icons; Bazzite has no icon anywhere, so its "b" is lifted out of
the project's own badge (Apache-2.0, attributed).

On Android every non-square mark was stretched. A VectorPainter maps the
viewport onto the ImageVector's default size with independent x and y
scales, so declaring a 448x512 Tux as 24x24 dp squashed it — silently, no
crash, no warning. The longest viewport edge now sets the 24 dp box and the
other follows the ratio, which is what Icon()'s ContentScale.Fit expects.
A unit test pins the invariant; every other client was already correct.

Also: scripts/gen-os-icons.sh replaces the undocumented hand-run pipeline
that turns a master into the GTK symbolic SVG, the Windows PNG and the Apple
template PDF. It reproduces the committed artifacts byte-identically.

Verified: web and Decky typecheck, Decky bundles, Android compiles and its
tests pass, PunktfunkKit builds, osinfo's tests pass. Not verified on glass,
and the GTK/Windows client crates do not build on macOS.

enricobuehlerandClaude Fable 5 88c8688b47 feat(client/apple): host cards wear the OS mark, and the store learns it
`DiscoveredHost` reads the new `os=` TXT (sanitized in PunktfunkShared's
OsChain.swift — the pure grammar + walk, mirrored from pf-client-core so every
platform resolves identically, and dependency-free so the widget could use it);
`StoredHost` appends optional `osChain` per the frozen app↔widget contract
(optional + appended last; legacy JSON still decodes, pinned by the round-trip
tests), and `HostStore.updateOsChain` learns it beside the MACs.

The art rides PunktfunkKit's proven resource path (the fonts precedent): ten
template vector imagesets in Resources/OsIcons.xcassets, compiled by the Xcode
build into the Kit bundle's Assets.car (verified: all ten resolve in the built
app) and tinting via foregroundStyle like an SF Symbol. Saved and discovered
cards lead their status line with the mark; a host that advertises nothing
renders exactly as before. GamepadHome tile + widget marks are follow-ups.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 8c6c9705f4 feat(apple): stage-2 default + pixel-perfect, decode robustness, UI/rumble polish
Stream reliability
- Default to the stage-2 presenter (VTDecompressionSession + CAMetalLayer): it detects
and recovers a wedged decoder, where stage-1's AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer freezes hard
on a lost HEVC reference frame with no app-side recovery (confirmed Apple limitation).
Stage 1 is now a DEBUG-only presenter toggle, plus the automatic no-Metal fallback.
- Stage-2 pixel-perfect: render the drawable at the decoded size (shader stays 1:1 =
identity) and let the layer's contentsGravity scale via the system compositor — the
same path stage-1's videoGravity used — instead of scaling in-shader.
- Loss recovery in both pumps is now a persistent awaitingIDR want, retried until an IDR
actually lands, so a keyframe request swallowed by the throttle can't strand a frozen
frame; 100 ms keyframe throttle to match the Android path.
- Fix "Publishing changes from within view updates": defer the HostStore writes out of
  the .onChange(of: model.phase) callback.
- Move AVAudioSession setActive/setCategory off the main thread (async on a shared serial
queue) to stop the UI-stall warning.

Controllers
- Rumble: capped-exponential backoff when the gamecontrollerd.haptics XPC breaks (-4811)
so a transient server interruption self-heals instead of cascading; playsHapticsOnly so
a controller engine doesn't join the always-active streaming audio session.
- Host cards: iPad pointer "magnet" hover effect; iPhone press scale + light haptic.

UI / design
- Ship Geist (SIL OFL 1.1) as the app font (bundled OTFs + registration), with the
  license surfaced in Acknowledgements.
- Restructure iOS/iPadOS Settings into a category NavigationSplitView; resolution wheel
with custom-resolution entry; 10-bit HDR toggle in Display.
- Industrial host-card redesign (left-aligned, bold, brand monogram tiles).

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 a05c08b1b0 feat(clients): in-app OSS / third-party-license screens
Surface THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in every GUI client (the desktop packages already
ship it as a file; this adds the on-glass screen):

- Linux: Preferences -> About -> Third-party licenses (adw::AboutDialog with the app
license + Legal sections; include_str! the root notices).
- Apple: macOS About tab / iOS+tvOS Acknowledgements link; notices bundled as
PunktfunkKit SPM resources, read via Bundle.module (the Xcode app links the SPM
product, so they ride along - no .pbxproj edit).
- Android: Settings -> About -> Open-source licenses (reads the bundled asset).
- (Windows landed earlier in 624387e: Settings -> About -> Third-party licenses.)

gen-third-party-notices.sh now copies the generated file into the Apple Resources/
and Android assets/ trees so the in-tree copies never drift.
