The kts resolves cargo by ABSOLUTE path on purpose (a GUI Android Studio
launch has no ~/.cargo/bin on PATH), but user.home is the wrong anchor in
the CI image, where the shared toolchain lives at CARGO_HOME=/usr/local/cargo
— gradle died starting /root/.cargo/bin/cargo. CARGO_HOME/bin is where
rustup puts binaries whenever the variable is set, so it wins; the
~/.cargo fallback keeps GUI launches working.
Also: android.yml's path filter learns ci/android-ci.Dockerfile — an image
change must exercise its consumer instead of needing a manual rerun to
prove itself.

Android was the last job still downloading its world every run: ~3 GB of
SDK/NDK/CMake from Google, a from-source cargo-ndk build, and one monolithic
cache key where a gradle edit invalidated the cargo registry and the Rust
target/ with it. punktfunk-android-ci (content-keyed, LAN registry) bakes
JDK 21 + SDK + NDK + cargo-ndk + sccache; the workflow shrinks to checkout →
two caches → gradle. The cargo-home cache joins the fleet-wide namespace
(same lockfile, same layout — it was the same bytes under a private key),
gradle gets its own key shared with android-screenshots (which stored the
identical content under a second name), and target/ leaves the cache —
sccache covers the three ABI builds now.
Apple: sccache (self-healing ~/.local/bin install + already provisioned on
the mini) covers every cargo invocation build-xcframework.sh makes across
the swift job, the screenshots job and release.yml — three jobs that each
recompiled the same core. screenshots.sh learns PF_SHOT_DERIVED_DATA so CI
pins one stable DerivedData root instead of cold-building into two throwaway
mktemp trees per run (release.yml's disease, same cure), and the Simulators
get shut down after capture (the 846-leaked-sims lesson).

The five builder images now live on home-ci-core's LAN registry
(192.168.1.58:5010) under content keys — a hash of the ci/ tree (+
rust-toolchain.toml for the cross image). docker.yml builds one only when its
key has no manifest yet, so a push that doesn't touch ci/ costs a curl per
image instead of seven WAN pushes and a set of per-SHA tags that no plain
prune could ever reclaim. Releases pin builders by copying the key manifest
to a vX.Y.Z tag via the registry API — no rebuild, no bytes moved.
Around that: deb/rpm/arch/android/apple/decky get path filters so docs-only
pushes stop lighting up the whole fleet (branch pushes only — tag runs match
tags:, as flatpak/windows-msix releases have proven for months); the
report-only bench job moves to bench.yml (nightly + dispatch) and stops
occupying a fleet slot per push; flatpak caches its Flathub runtimes and
builder state instead of re-downloading multi-GB every run; rpm's cargo
registry cache gets its own key namespace instead of sharing the Ubuntu
jobs'; audit caches cargo bin+registry rather than the whole toolchain dir;
docker-prune.sh loses the local act-cache cap/burst-clear (the cache is
central now — deleting it under disk pressure was how runner-2 ended up
cold-building everything) and gains a leaked-network prune.

The bump itself came from Android Studio; this makes the rest of the repo
agree with it.
The toolchain line at the top of the root build file still claimed AGP 9.2.0
and Gradle 9.4.1, and both Android workflows named "AGP 9.2" as the reason
they pin JDK 21 — the sort of comment that is trusted precisely because it
looks maintained.
The Gradle caches also needed telling: they cache the DISTRIBUTION under
`~/.gradle/wrapper`, keyed on a hash of `*.gradle.kts` only. This bump moved
both files so the key changed anyway, but a wrapper-only bump would have
restored a key that can never contain the new distribution. The wrapper
properties are in the key now.
Verified with the workflows' own commands on the new toolchain:
`:app:testDebugUnitTest -PskipRustBuild --stacktrace --rerun-tasks` (the
screenshot job, 45 tasks from cold) and `:app:assembleDebug` including the
cargo-ndk native build. AGP 9.3.1 resolves no build-tools newer than the
37.0.0 both jobs install, so their sdkmanager lines still cover it.
Every push-triggered workflow now declares
concurrency: { group: workflow+ref, cancel-in-progress: true }
A busy push cadence on main was stacking ~10 queued runs per commit —
the fleet was 110 runs behind tonight — while only the newest commit's
canary matters. Now each new push cancels the superseded queued/running
run of the same workflow. Release tags are unaffected: every tag is its
own ref, so tag runs never cancel each other. Gitea honors this for push
triggers (PR triggers don't cancel yet: gitea#35933).

The android leg failed twice on 2026-07-22 with sdkmanager's "Error on
ZipFile unknown archive" — once in our NDK/build-tools step, once inside
setup-android's default package set. Root cause is the shared runner fleet
dropping packets under parallel-job load (the same class retry.sh documents
for the flatpak leg): sdkmanager unzips while streaming, so a truncated
stream reads as a corrupt archive. A solo re-download on the same runner
verified clean.
- setup-android: install only platform-tools — the action's default legacy
`tools` package drags in the ~250 MB emulator this job never uses, which
was the largest and flakiest download in the whole leg.
- NDK/build-tools/CMake: wrap sdkmanager in retry.sh (4 attempts, linear
backoff) — a failed attempt leaves no partial package, so re-invoking is
safe.

The APK was only reachable via the generic registry (or attached to a Gitea
Release on a vX.Y.Z tag) — a main-push canary or a PR/dispatch run surfaced no
downloadable APK on the run page itself. Add an upload-artifact step (v3, per
Gitea's GHES-identifying artifact backend, like apple.yml) that grabs whichever
APKs were built — the signed universal release APK on a main/tag push, else the
debug APK — so any run is a one-click sideload download.

appleboy/ssh-action to commit SHAs (version kept in a trailing comment).
These run in jobs holding the Android signing keystore, Play
service-account, and deploy SSH key, so a moved tag on a third-party
action could exfiltrate them.
- Add a bun-audit job to audit.yml over web/bun.lock — the console holds
the login gate, session sealing, and mgmt token, so its deps matter too
— and trigger the workflow on web/bun.lock changes alongside Cargo.lock.

Bring the Android client to parity with Apple's gamepad experience and finish
Wake-on-LAN.
- Console/gamepad home: host carousel, aurora chrome, mTLS game-library coverflow,
and an input-aware legend that switches between gamepad face buttons and a
TV-remote select-ring + arrows based on the last-used input.
- Wake-on-LAN: the fire-and-forget send is upgraded to wait-until-up
(WakeController/WakeOverlay: resend + mDNS poll, 90s timeout, cancel/retry,
fingerprint-matched so a host that cold-boots onto a new DHCP IP still connects),
plus host edit (touch dialog + console form) with an auto-filled MAC.
- Android TV: brand banner (android:banner), density-aware console scaling, D-pad/
remote nav (Up = Settings, Down or the pad Select button = host Options),
emergency stream-exit chord, and 120Hz console refresh.
- Touch UI: settings split into subpages with a tablet NavigationRail, axis-aware
tab animation (horizontal on phones, vertical on the tablet rail), animated
settings navigation, and a licenses screen with a back button + the real
workspace version (read from Cargo.toml).
- Vector Lock/controller icons (no emoji); bundled Geist font.

Every release workflow hardcoded a canary base version (0.5.0 in
Apple/Android/rpm/flatpak/deb, 0.3 in windows-msix/windows-host/decky) that
had to be hand-bumped on each stable release and wasn't. With stable at
v0.6.0, every canary was a version *behind* stable — e.g. the Apple canary
showed up on TestFlight as 0.5.0 while 0.6.0 was already published.
Add scripts/ci/pf-version.{sh,ps1} (bash + pwsh twin) as the single source of
truth: stable = the vX.Y.Z tag; canary = latest stable tag with minor+1,
patch 0 (v0.6.0 -> 0.7.0), so canary is always exactly one minor ahead of the
newest release with zero maintenance. Falls back to the workspace Cargo.toml
version when no tag is fetchable. All workflows now eval/call it and format
their own channel suffix off $PF_BASE; only the canary branch changed, stable
branches and per-channel suffixes are untouched. channels.md drops the old
manual "bump the canary base" release step.

The [workspace.package] version (inherited by every crate via version.workspace)
lagged at 0.3.0 through the 0.4.0 release — bump it to 0.4.1, the release being
cut, and refresh the 8 workspace entries in Cargo.lock to match (CI builds
--locked).
Also advance the CI canary-base fallbacks (deb/rpm/flatpak/android/release
workflows + build-rpm.sh) from 0.3.0 to 0.5.0 so main/canary builds sort one
minor ahead of the latest stable line, per the documented channel convention.

A push to main publishes canary builds to canary channels (fast iteration,
unchanged); a single vX.Y.Z tag releases every platform at one version to the
stable channels and attaches all artifacts (.deb/.rpm/.msix/.apk/.aab/.dmg +
flatpak/decky/host-installer) to one Gitea Release. Collapses the
host-v*/win-v*/host-win-v* tag namespaces into v* — the channel split makes the
version-shadow bug structurally impossible (canary and stable are separate repos,
never a shared version line).
- scripts/ci/gitea-release.{sh,ps1}: one idempotent release helper
(create-or-fetch + delete-before-upload), replacing 3 copy-pasted inline blocks

Two bodies of work in one commit (the rename moved files the fixes also touched).

contract is unchanged). crates/ now holds only core + host.

Client loss-recovery (video froze and never recovered after a brief drop):
- Export punktfunk_connection_frames_dropped through the C ABI (the core already
tracked it for the client keyframe-recovery loop; it was never reachable from
the ABI clients). Regenerated punktfunk_core.h.
- Apple (StreamPump + Stage2Pipeline) and Android (decode.rs) now poll
frames_dropped and request a keyframe when it climbs -- the same loss-driven
recovery Linux/Windows already had. Under infinite GOP the decoder silently
conceals reference-missing frames, so the decode-error trigger rarely fires.
Apple rumble robustness (worked then went spotty -- DualSense + Xbox):
- Add CHHapticEngine stopped/reset handlers (rebuild on app background / audio
interruption / server reset) and drop the permanent `broken` latch on a
transient drive failure; latch only when the controller truly has no haptics.
- Surface swallowed SDL set_rumble errors on Linux/Windows + diagnostic logging.
Verified: cargo build/clippy/fmt --workspace, C-ABI harness, header drift.
Not runnable on this box (verify in CI): Gitea workflows, gradle/Android,
flatpak, Swift/decky.

r0adkll/upload-google-play hides real API errors behind "Unknown error
occurred." Proved the full upload sequence (insert edit -> upload bundle ->
track update -> validate) succeeds with the service account, so the failure was
r0adkll's opaque error handling and/or a base64-encoded SERVICE_ACCOUNT_JSON
secret.
clients/android/ci/play-upload.py does the same sequence with stdlib + openssl
(no pip), reuses the SERVICE_ACCOUNT_JSON secret, tolerates it being raw JSON or
base64, auto-retries commit with changesNotSentForReview, and prints Google's
actual error. Locally dry-run-validated against the live app (both secret forms).

The previous CI fix bumped the pinned platform to android-37, but the runner's sdkmanager has no
such package yet ("Failed to find package 'platforms;android-37'"), failing the SDK step before it
could install CMake. Revert to platforms;android-36 (AGP auto-installs the compileSdk-37 platform
during the build, as it did before) while keeping the cmake;3.22.1 package that fixes the libopus
cross-build.

The android.yml runner installed the NDK but not cmake/ninja, so cargo-ndk's audiopus_sys
(libopus via CMake) failed with "is `cmake` not installed?" — broken since the audio increment
added the libopus dependency. kit/build.gradle.kts prepends $ANDROID_SDK/cmake/3.22.1/bin to
PATH (the same SDK CMake that makes local builds work); install cmake;3.22.1 (cmake + ninja) so
that path exists in CI too. Also pin platforms;android-37 to match compileSdk (AGP auto-installs
it otherwise).

Rust-heavy client model (like punktfunk-client-linux): a new cdylib crate
crates/punktfunk-android links punktfunk-core and exposes the JNI seam;
Kotlin (clients/android) owns only the Android-framework surface. Kotlin can't
import the C header the way Swift can, so the bridge is written in Rust to reuse
the Linux client's orchestration rather than re-port it.
- crates/punktfunk-android: JNI bridge — abiVersion/coreVersion native-link
proof + session connect/close handle; plane pumps stubbed for M4 stage 1.
- clients/android: Gradle project — :app (Compose) + :kit (Android library with
a cargo-ndk Exec task -> jniLibs). AGP 9.2 / Gradle 9.4.1 / Kotlin 2.3.21 /
Compose BOM 2026.05.01 / compileSdk 37 / targetSdk 36 / minSdk 31, shipping
arm64-v8a + x86_64. Phone + TV (leanback) installable. README rewritten.
- .gitea/workflows/android.yml: CI mirroring apple.yml on a Linux runner.
- punktfunk-core: switch rcgen to the ring backend so the whole quic tree is
aws-lc-free (smaller client .so, cmake-free cross-compile; a win for all targets).
Validated on this box: :app:assembleDebug -> APK with both ABIs; emulator
first-light renders the bridge linked (core ABI v2) with logcat confirmation;
clippy -D warnings + cargo fmt clean; core tests green on the ring backend.
