enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 5 3bb30cb2f6 fix(windows/web-console): a bun exit no longer parks the console until the next sign-in
The PunktfunkWeb task registers RestartCount=10/PT1M, but Task Scheduler honours
restart-on-failure only when the action crashes or fails to start — never for a
plain non-zero exit. So any bun exit left the console down until the next boot or
interactive logon, with the host still streaming perfectly next to it. Seen on
glass on a 0.22.3 upgrade: `web setup` started the task one second after the new
service came up, bun exited at once (Last Run Result 0xFFFFFFFF), and the console
sat dead for hours while its box served clients — which reads to an operator as
"the host is gone".

web-run.cmd now supervises bun instead of exiting with it: restart on any exit,
indefinitely for a console that served a while and then died, but give up after
10 CONSECUTIVE fast exits so a genuinely broken install still surfaces as a failed
task. Any run lasting >= 60s resets that counter. It exits 0 rather than
respawning when the payload disappears, so an uninstall does not make it spin.

Uptime is measured with an unambiguous clock rather than parsed out of %TIME%,
which is locale-formatted (12-hour locales append " PM", many others use ',' as
the decimal separator) — the box this was found on prints 18:36:28,39.

stop_web_console() polls until :47992 is really free instead of sleeping a blind
second: both `schtasks /end` and `taskkill /F` are asynchronous, and web_setup
starts the new task immediately afterwards, where bun cannot bind a port the
corpse still holds. It re-ends the TASK halfway through, not just the listener —
with the launcher now supervising, killing bun alone would be undone by its own
restart loop.

The systemd unit had the same shape of hole: Restart=on-failure leaves a console
that exited 0 down. Now Restart=always, which an explicit `systemctl stop` still
overrides.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 5 5c7a9407ff fix(windows/web): start the console once its inputs exist, and verify it started
A fresh install left PunktfunkWeb registered but not running: `web setup` waited
only for the mgmt token before firing `schtasks /run`, while `web-run.cmd` also
requires the host identity cert — and the host writes the token during argument
parsing but `cert.pem` only after the pure-Rust RSA-2048 keygen inside `serve`.
The launcher lost that race, exited 1, and since the task carried no trigger but
boot (Task Scheduler does not reliably restart on a non-zero exit code) the
console stayed down until the next reboot, with the installer still reporting
"web console set up + started".

- `web setup` gates on cert.pem (written last) as well as the token, 90 s budget.
- After `schtasks /run`, poll for the :47992 listener and retry before giving up;
  warn honestly instead of claiming a start that did not happen.
- `web-run.cmd` (installed + dev) waits in-process for the token + cert (~5 min)
  rather than exiting 1 and hoping restart-on-failure retries.
- Register the task with a logon trigger alongside boot, falling back to the
  boot-only XML if a Task Scheduler build rejects it.
- Linux had the same defect: punktfunk-web.service's Restart=on-failure gave up
  permanently after systemd's default 5-starts-in-10 s limit. StartLimitIntervalSec=0.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 f87a43f42d feat(web): harden login gate — throttle, scoped TLS, token-derived seal key
Remediates the two web-console residuals from the 2026-07-05 posture audit:

- Brute-force throttle (loginThrottle.ts): per-IP exponential backoff
  after 5 free attempts, plus a global floor for spread-out floods, keyed
  on the socket peer IP (not spoofable X-Forwarded-For) with a size-capped
  map. The constant-time compare already stopped the timing leak; this
  bounds guess *volume* against a by-design LAN-exposed console.
- Session seal key now derives from the high-entropy mgmt token instead of
  the low-entropy login password, so a captured cookie is no longer an
  offline password oracle. Falls back to the password only when no token
  is configured (dev/local). Rotating the token now invalidates sessions.
- Replace the process-wide NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED=0 with per-request
  Bun TLS scoped to the loopback proxy hop; a non-loopback mgmt URL now
  verifies normally. Dropped the env var from the systemd unit, Steam Deck
  installer, Windows run scripts, env examples, and web README.

Port 3000 collides with half the dev-server ecosystem; 47992 sits next
to the mgmt API (47990) in the punktfunk port family. Updates the run
scripts, systemd/scheduled-task units, Dockerfile, Windows firewall
rule + installer, packaging, and every doc that referenced :3000.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 ae51276a03 feat(web): consolidate paired devices, self-contained sections, docs + lint
Web console
- Pairing/Library/Stats refactored into self-contained subsections that each own
  their own queries + mutations; a shared slot-based layout (view.tsx) is filled by
  the live page (containers) and Storybook (pure cards + fixtures) so the layout can't
  drift.
- All paired devices in one list on Pairing with a protocol column (punktfunk/1 +
  Moonlight), routing each unpair to the right endpoint; the redundant Clients page is
  removed.
- Library: overview grid split from the add/edit form into separate files.
- Login screen links out to the docs.

Docs
- "Console login password" section on every host page (apt/RPM/Bazzite/SteamOS/Windows)
  plus a new "Forgot your Password?" troubleshooting page, linked from the login screen.
- Console served as HTTP/1.1 over TLS (drop the unusable HTTP/3 advertising) across the
  Bun entry, launchers, systemd units, and packaging.

Tooling
- Biome now respects .gitignore (stops linting generated code), config migrated to
  2.5.1; all lint issues fixed cleanly.

Also includes this branch's in-progress host, Apple client, packaging, and CI changes.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 546b8e2e29 fix(windows-installer): build pf-vdisplay from source in CI; ASCII scripts; upgrade-safe web console
The pf-vdisplay virtual-display driver shipped as a checked-in PREBUILT binary
that went stale - two field failures on a fresh install (live-repro'd on a
German-locale Dell laptop):

  * Bug A (every box): a repo-wide rename edited the vendored pf_vdisplay.inf
    but never re-signed pf_vdisplay.cat, so the catalog stopped covering the INF
    -> `pnputil /add-driver` fails SPAPI_E_FILE_HASH_NOT_IN_CATALOG -> driver
    never installs -> every session dies "pf-vdisplay driver interface not
    found".
  * the prebuilt binary also predated IOCTL_SET_RENDER_ADAPTER (added to the
    driver source after the vendor freeze) that the host needs to pin the IDD
    render GPU on hybrid/Optimus boxes.

Fix: build the driver FROM SOURCE every release (build-pf-vdisplay.ps1, wired
into pack-host-installer.ps1) so .dll/.inf/.cat are always in lockstep and
current driver features ship. The runner's clang 22 made the driver's pinned
bindgen 0.71 emit opaque structs (157 layout-assert errors), so bump the
vendored wdk-sys/wdk-build bindgen 0.71 -> 0.72 (+ lock). The build self-signs
the driver per build (installer trusts the bundled .cer); a stable
DRIVER_CERT_PFX_B64 secret can override.

  * Bug B (non-English boxes): the installer runs install-pf-vdisplay.ps1 etc.
    via powershell.exe (5.1), which reads a BOM-less script in the ANSI codepage
    - an em-dash's trailing 0x94 byte becomes a curly quote on German
    Windows-1252 and the script aborts "unterminated string", so the driver
    never installed (the gamepad script survived only because it was already
    ASCII). Scrub every installer-run .ps1/.cmd to ASCII + add a CI gate that
    fails on any non-ASCII so it can't regress.

  * Bug C (upgrades): nothing stopped the OLD web console before re-registering
    its task, so a stale server kept :3000 (the new one restart-looped on
    EADDRINUSE) and served a broken old bundle (500 on /login). Stop + reap it
    (runtime-agnostic, by the :3000 listener owner) in web-setup.ps1 and in the
    .iss before the file copy + on uninstall.

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 a659dcc88b fix(web): bundle deps into the server (noExternals) — kill the 47k-file install
The Windows installer ballooned to 154 MB and installed forever because the node-server
bundle externalized the WHOLE @unom/ui dependency tree (payload, lexical, date-fns,
prismjs…) to .output/server/node_modules — 47,567 files / 730 MB copied into Program
Files. Set Nitro `noExternals: true` so every dependency is bundled + tree-shaken into the
server output: .output drops to ~75 files / 10 MB, and the bare external imports
(srvx, seroval…) bun couldn't resolve at runtime are gone — so the console runs on bun
(no node, no node_modules), which is the issue we previously worked around with node.

Windows installer now ships bun.exe + the ~75-file .output (was node.exe + a node_modules
forest) and runs `bun .output\server\index.mjs`:
- windows-host.yml: fetch a pinned portable bun (build tool AND shipped runtime); drop the
  node fetch + the .output/server install; smoke-boot under the bundled bun.
- pack-host-installer.ps1 / punktfunk-host.iss: -NodeExe -> -BunExe; stage {app}\bun\bun.exe.
- web-run.cmd / build-web.ps1: run/restart on bun; docs updated.

Net win everywhere: the Linux .deb shrinks (node still runs the self-contained output), and
the docker web image — which already ran `bun run .output/server/index.mjs` with only
.output copied — is fixed (the externals had no node_modules to resolve at runtime).

Validated locally: noExternals build = 75 files / 10 MB; node AND bun both serve /login
(200) + static assets (200) + gate /api (401).

(A true single binary via `bun build --compile` is blocked for now: Nitro serves public
assets from an import.meta-relative path `--compile` doesn't embed (/$bunfs/public); the
75-file payload is the clean result.)

enricobuehlerandClaude Opus 4.8 6ee1a4c847 feat(windows-host): bundle + auto-run the web console in the installer
The Windows host installer shipped only the host exe + SudoVDA driver + FFmpeg, so a
fresh install had no web management console — required for basically every user (status,
paired devices, the PIN pairing flow). The console was only ever set up by hand on the
dev box (build-web.ps1 + a hand-made PunktfunkWeb task whose web-run.cmd wasn't even
committed). Bundle it into the same installer, mirroring the proven Linux punktfunk-web
deploy.

- windows-host.yml builds the Nitro node-server console (bun, deb.yml's shape) + fetches
  a pinned portable Node, smoke-boots it under node (/login == 200) to gate the build, and
  hands web/.output + node.exe to the pack script.
- pack-host-installer.ps1 gains -WebDir/-NodeExe and stages the .output tree, node, and
  the two new scripts into the non-WOW64-redirected build area.
- punktfunk-host.iss lays the payload into {app}\web\.output + {app}\node\node.exe, adds
  a wizard page for the console login password pre-filled with a crypto-random default
  (shown on the finish page; kept on upgrade), and runs web-setup.ps1.
- web-setup.ps1 writes the ACL'd %ProgramData%\punktfunk\web-password (Administrators +
  SYSTEM), registers the PunktfunkWeb scheduled task (boot, SYSTEM, restart-on-failure ->
  web-run.cmd -> node on :3000), opens inbound TCP 3000, and starts it. web-run.cmd
  sources the host's mgmt-token + the password and runs the bundled node.
- The console proxies the host's loopback mgmt API with the host's own
  %ProgramData%\punktfunk\mgmt-token (no host-code change). Uninstall removes the task +
  firewall rule.

Validated locally: bun build -> node-server bundle, node boot serves /login (200) and
gates /api (401). The Windows-only bits (ISCC compile, scheduled task, password page,
firewall) validate on the Windows runner CI + on-glass.
