Field report (Nobara, 0.19.2): entering Game Mode mid-stream left the monitor
on and the stream mirroring at the desktop's resolution. Root cause: the
DM-flavor takeover needs privilege to stop plasmalogin, the polkit rule is a
docs-only manual step nobody installs, so every managed entry silently
degraded to ATTACH — and with a physical display connected the attach path
mirrors the box's own session at its own mode.
Ship the privilege with the packages instead: a root helper
(libexec/punktfunk/pf-dm-helper, verbs stop|restore) behind its own polkit
action (io.unom.punktfunk.dm-helper, allow_any — the same mechanism Nobara's
os-session-select uses, and the helper derives the DM unit from the
display-manager.service symlink itself so callers never name a unit across
the privilege boundary). The host tries the plain system-bus verbs first
(root / operator rule still take precedence), then pkexec's the helper; the
restore paths (idle restore + in-stream desktop-switch honor) use the same
ladder so a takeover that needed the helper can always be undone by it.
Packaged in rpm/deb/arch (Arch under /usr/lib/punktfunk with the policy's
exec.path annotation rewritten; the host probes both layouts). Nix is left
out deliberately: store paths can't match the probe, NixOS keeps the manual
rule. Docs updated — the rule snippet stays as the scoped alternative.

A fresh install left PunktfunkWeb registered but not running: `web setup` waited
only for the mgmt token before firing `schtasks /run`, while `web-run.cmd` also
requires the host identity cert — and the host writes the token during argument
parsing but `cert.pem` only after the pure-Rust RSA-2048 keygen inside `serve`.
The launcher lost that race, exited 1, and since the task carried no trigger but
boot (Task Scheduler does not reliably restart on a non-zero exit code) the
console stayed down until the next reboot, with the installer still reporting
"web console set up + started".
- `web setup` gates on cert.pem (written last) as well as the token, 90 s budget.
- After `schtasks /run`, poll for the :47992 listener and retry before giving up;
warn honestly instead of claiming a start that did not happen.
- `web-run.cmd` (installed + dev) waits in-process for the token + cert (~5 min)
rather than exiting 1 and hoping restart-on-failure retries.
- Register the task with a logon trigger alongside boot, falling back to the
boot-only XML if a Task Scheduler build rejects it.
- Linux had the same defect: punktfunk-web.service's Restart=on-failure gave up
permanently after systemd's default 5-starts-in-10 s limit. StartLimitIntervalSec=0.

First on-glass test of the DM-flavor takeover confirmed the black-screen
fix, but exposed that the managed model could not switch back: Steam's
in-stream session-select is a silent no-op while the display manager is
stopped (every config-write branch in os-session-select requires the DM
to be running), so the capture loss it causes just relaunched game mode.
The user pass of the switch script does leave one durable trace — the
~/.config/steamos-session-select sentinel, written before any DM check.
The managed launch now baselines its mtime; a capture loss with the
sentinel advanced reads as the switch request and is honored by
replaying the switch with the DM up: restore the display manager, run
the distro's own os-session-select (its internal pkexec is authorized
allow_any by the distro policy, so it works from the host's sessionless
context), then stop the autologin game-mode unit so Relogin lands in
the newly selected desktop. The capture-loss re-detection then follows
KWin as it comes up; a 120 s post-honor grace stops the rebuild loop
from racing the booting desktop back into game mode (superseded early
if the box's own game-mode unit reappears — the desktop→game leg stays
fast). The baseline is re-recorded on crash-restore so a pre-existing
sentinel never reads as a fresh request. Every verb in the sequence was
live-validated on the Nobara repro VM.

Field report (Nobara 43 HTPC): switching the host to Steam Game Mode
mid-stream permanently black-screened the box. Live-proven root cause on
a Nobara repro VM: our takeover masks the box's gamescope-session-plus
unit, plasmalogin's Relogin=true then fails its session Exec repeatedly
and trips systemd's start limit within ~1 s — the display manager dies,
and our restore verb (unmask + user start) cannot bring a seatless
gamescope back. Only 'reset-failed + restart' of the DM recovers.
The takeover is now display-manager-flavor-aware:
- SDDM (Bazzite/SteamOS) keeps the proven mask+SIGKILL path unchanged.
- plasmalogin/unknown DMs never mask: with privilege (root or an
operator polkit rule scoped to the DM unit — documented) the host
stops the DM for the stream and restores it with reset-failed +
restart (PUNKTFUNK_RECOVER_SESSION_CMD as fallback), recorded in the
persisted takeover state so a host crash still restores; without
privilege the managed takeover degrades to ATTACH and mirrors the
box's live Game Mode instead of destabilizing the seat. Both legs of
the privileged cycle live-verified on the repro VM (headless managed
session works with zero login sessions; render nodes are 0666).
A loaded-but-inactive leftover instance never triggers the DM stop.
Companion fixes from the same triage:
- ensure_box_gamescope_mode gains the attach-only rebuild-probe guard
both managed paths already had (stale post-capture-loss detection
restarted the box's unit), and no longer re-modes a box that drives a
physical display — attach mirrors on-glass; re-mode is the
headless-box model.
- Capture-loss rebuilds targeting gamescope get a 100 s budget: the
40 s budget expired inside the first 45 s Steam-cold-start launch
attempt, a guaranteed single-shot failure.
- A PUNKTFUNK_COMPOSITOR pin now WARNs once per capture loss when the
live session no longer matches it (the pin disables
session-following — the reporter's original stream-death trigger).
- A managed session that took nothing over (client gamescope pin beside
a live desktop) is stopped on disconnect instead of being orphaned
forever.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Field triage (Nobara, Discord): the kde.md starter host.env told desktop
users to set PUNKTFUNK_COMPOSITOR=kwin, which PINS the backend — detect()
short-circuits and the capture-loss rebuild never re-detects — so a
mid-stream switch to Game Mode killed the stream instead of following it.
A follow-up hardcoded XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000 anchor broke PipeWire
for any non-1000 uid (pw audio connect: Creation failed).
Revamp across every starter/example/reference:
- Desktop starters (kde/gnome/hyprland/sway) shrink to
PUNKTFUNK_VIDEO_SOURCE=virtual + an explicit warning that pinning
disables session-following; forcing a backend is CI/appliance-only.
- host.env.example: rewritten around auto-detection; anchors demoted to a
commented ssh/cron-only block with the uid trap spelled out; the
gamescope ATTACH/MANAGED knobs documented (previously missing);
case-sensitivity called out.
- packaging/bazzite/host.env + README: drop the uid-1000 anchors (a
systemctl --user service inherits/derives them); README's stale
PUNKTFUNK_COMPOSITOR=gamescope-era template synced to the real one.
- packaging/kde/host.env: loud APPLIANCE-ONLY header (it pins on purpose).
- configuration.md: session-anchors section inverted to "leave unset",
compositor row states the pin consequence, case-sensitivity note.
- troubleshooting.md: new "session fails right after editing host.env"
section (case, wrong-uid anchors, stale pin, restart-to-apply).
- gamescope.md/bazzite.md: attach/managed descriptions match current
behavior (managed is the infra-detected default; attach re-modes a
box-owned session to the client's resolution).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- rebuild-check.sh + punktfunk-rebuild-check.service (enabled, ordered
Before=punktfunk-host): ldd-probes the host binary at session start —
milliseconds when healthy, a full update.sh rebuild only when a
SteamOS update actually broke its library links. update.sh restarts
go --no-block so the check → update.sh → restart chain can't deadlock
against the unit ordering. update.sh retrofits the unit.
- installer summary: web console is https (the unit serves TLS).
- docs: steamos-host.md (runner in the build step, keep-list + auto
rebuild = updates survive hands-free), gamescope.md (Gaming Mode
touch = single-finger pointer, exact taps, no multi-touch),
plugins.mdx (SteamOS runner note), scripts/steamdeck/README.md
(rebuild-check, runner payload, keep list, honest packaging
trade-off + the CI-prebuilt future direction).

Lifts the ~100 Mbps decrypt ceiling on clients without hardware AES — the
armv7 soft-AES targets (webOS TVs), where AES-128-GCM resolves to fixsliced
software AES + software GHASH (~50-100 cpb) while ChaCha20-Poly1305's ARX
construction runs ~10-17 cpb portable, a 4-7x lift that PyroWave-on-TV needs
(design/chacha20-session-cipher.md).
Phase 1 (core crypto, no wire change): SessionKey merges cipher choice and
key material (invalid combinations unrepresentable, zeroize + redacted-Debug
discipline kept); SessionCrypto dispatches both aead-0.5 ciphers per call —
the salt||seq nonce scheme, per-direction salts, seq-as-AAD and replay
window carry over verbatim (same 96-bit nonce / 16-byte tag, const-asserted).
Config.key becomes SessionKey; validate's zero-key rejection follows the
active variant. The C ABI keeps its fixed 16-byte key mapped to AES — no
ABI_VERSION bump.
Phase 2 (negotiation): VIDEO_CAP_CHACHA20 (0x40) — support-plus-request in
one bit, the VIDEO_CAP_444 precedent. Welcome grows cipher@68 +
key_chacha@69..101, emitted only when non-zero so an AES session's Welcome
stays byte-identical to the pre-cipher form; decode is fail-closed (short
key or unknown id -> Err, never a silent AES fallback). No WIRE_VERSION
bump; downgrade resistance inherited from the pinned-TLS control channel.
Phase 3 (host): grant only when the client advertised the bit and the
PUNKTFUNK_CHACHA20 kill-switch (default on, documented) allows; fresh
32-byte per-session key from the same RNG discipline, legacy key field
stays independently random; resolved cipher logged at session start.
Verification: seal/open suites parameterized over both ciphers + a
cross-cipher tamper case; Welcome roundtrip/truncation/fail-closed tests;
ChaCha lossy-loopback soak (loss/replay is cipher-independent); bench
gains _chacha20 series (AES ids unchanged for CI history) — host-side
sealing line-rate-trivial on both x86 (~640 MiB/s) and Apple Silicon
(~535 MiB/s). punktfunk-probe drives the interop matrix via
PUNKTFUNK_CLIENT_CHACHA20=1 and logs the negotiated cipher.
Phase 4 (pf-webos pin bump + unconditional cap bit) follows the next
core release.

The system-tuning block (UDP buffers, gamepad udev rule, vhci-hcd autoload,
input group) was gated on `sudo -n true` — passwordless sudo — so on a stock
SteamOS box (the deck account needs a password) the whole block was silently
skipped: /dev/uhid stayed root-only so the gamepad degraded to an Xbox 360 pad,
and the UDP buffers stayed at the 416 KB default. Video was unaffected because
Game Mode/gamescope needs none of it, which masked the skip on-glass.
- install.sh + update.sh: acquire sudo interactively (`sudo -v` prompt on a TTY)
instead of requiring passwordless; skip only when there's no TTY or auth fails,
and then print the exact manual block plus a `passwd` hint — a stock SteamOS
'deck' account has no password, so sudo can't work until one is set.
- update.sh: also retrofit the UDP-buffer sysctl for older/skipped installs, and
loudly nag to reboot when the input group was just added (a --user restart does
not pick up the new group; only a fresh login does).
- steamos-host.md: note this step prompts for the sudo password.
Root is unavoidable: the udev rule, input group, and vhci-hcd module are all
kernel operations with no user-space alternative.

A fresh SteamOS host install failed on-glass two ways: KWin denied Desktop-mode
capture (zkde_screencast_unstable_v1) so every session died in the pipeline build,
and the native Steam Deck pad degraded to an Xbox 360 controller. Both stem from
setup that only a fresh login applies — the host user-service keeps the
pre-install group set and KWin reads its .desktop grant at session start — plus a
missing vhci-hcd autoload the pad's USB/IP transport needs (the deb/rpm/arch
packages ship it; the Deck installer did not).
- install.sh: install punktfunk-modules.conf (+ modprobe vhci-hcd now) for the
native Deck controller transport, seed the KDE RemoteDesktop grant
(kde-authorized) for Desktop-mode input, and print a loud "reboot before
streaming" notice when a relogin is actually required (input group added or the
.desktop grant first installed).
- update.sh: retrofit the udev rule, vhci-hcd autoload, input group, and grant so
existing installs pick them up on the next update without a reinstall.
- steamos-host.md: document the first-install reboot and the native controller
passthrough requirements (input group + vhci-hcd + client-side Steam Input Off).

The VirtualHere DualSense recipe linked the `virtualhere-dualsense.ts` SDK
example as a deployable recipe but skipped everything needed to run it: that
VirtualHere is a server (couch) + client (host) pair, and that the example —
like every example — imports `../src/index.js`, which only resolves inside the
SDK repo. A user copying it out had no way to know they must
`bun add @punktfunk/host` and swap that import.
- automation.md: rewrite the recipe into a full walkthrough — the two-sided
VirtualHere setup, the `-t` verbs, the zero-code hooks version, and a new
scripted section with exact deploy steps, env vars, and running it as a
service (its own SIGTERM handler makes `systemctl stop` release the pad).
- sdk/README.md: say how to run an example in-repo vs deployed on a host.
- virtualhere-dualsense.ts: header note on the import swap + service setup,
since that file is where the doc link lands.

Console: a Plugins section (Browse / Installed / Sources) on a static nav
entry, with install friction proportional to trust — a plain confirm for a
verified entry, a warning naming the curator for an external one, and a
danger dialog that makes you retype the spec for a raw package. Tier badges
are permanent and follow the plugin onto its own UI page.
Index: unom/punktfunk-plugin-index published and served from Gitea's raw
endpoint (real HTTPS, byte-exact, no vhost to stand up) — merge to main is
publish, which resolves the design's open hosting question.
Four things only running it could find:
- runner discovery matched @punktfunk/plugin-* only, so a third-party
scoped plugin (which D8 requires) would install and never run
- ...and that convention also matches @punktfunk/plugin-kit, a plugin's
own framework: it listed as installed and would have been imported as a
unit. Both now key off the plugins dir's top-level dependencies, with an
emptied dependency list meaning 'nothing installed' rather than falling
back to the naming convention
- the store must not pass new flags to the runner: the scripting package
ships separately and an older one reads an unknown flag's value as a
package name. The host writes the bunfig scope mapping itself
- ureq reports only >= 400 as Err, so a conditional request's 304 arrives
as Ok with an empty body — handled as an error it made every refresh
after the first verify a signature over zero bytes and sit stale
Also: the console's first Tabs use exposed an @unom/ui theme gap that
rendered inactive tabs invisible (caught in a browser pass, not by types).

- plugins: the Windows runner task runs as LocalService now, and
public-registry names need --allow-public-registry
- automation + SDK README: connect()'s zero-config credential is the
scoped plugin token; pairing administration and hook registration
need an explicit PUNKTFUNK_MGMT_TOKEN opt-in

One-liner plugin management replacing the manual scripting-dir + bunfig +
bun-add ritual: package ops forward to the bun runner (new sdk plugins

drive the systemd unit on Linux and the PunktfunkScripting scheduled task
on Windows (installer support in the ISS). Docs page rewritten as .mdx
with per-platform Tabs (registered in mdx.tsx).

Intel's Windows driver advertises Vulkan Video (Arc drivers since 2023), so
the capability gate alone no longer keeps Intel off FFmpeg-Vulkan — and that
combination is broken in the field (B580 report: strobing + 7.2 ms p50
decodes at 4K120) and on glass (Arc Pro iGPU: 29-33 ms p50 decodes at 4K60
where D3D11VA does 2.5 ms on the SAME GPU). Mirror the Linux vendor order on
Windows: NVIDIA/AMD keep Vulkan Video first, Intel/unknown take D3D11VA
first; vulkan stays reachable by explicit preference and as auto's fallback.
Also:
- Vulkan→D3D11VA mid-session demotion rung (the Windows analog of Linux's
Vulkan→VAAPI rung) — a failing Vulkan backend lands on hardware, not on
software, which cannot survive 4K120.
- The demotion streak now needs 1 s of age as well as 3 consecutive errors:
a startup loss burst produced 3 errors in 20 ms and stranded the session
on software decode (one-way) before the IDR requested on the first error
could possibly arrive — live-hit on the Intel iGPU leg.
- Stale "Intel's Windows driver has no Vulkan Video" comments corrected,
docs updated to the per-vendor order, vendor-order test extended with
discrete/iGPU Arc cases.
Verified on an Arc Pro iGPU + RTX 3500 Ada laptop against a CachyOS/NVENC
host: auto now picks d3d11va on Intel (60 fps, 2.5-2.8 ms decode, e2e 26 ms
vs 50 ms before) and still picks vulkan on NVIDIA. 27/27 pf-client-core
tests, clippy clean.

GNOME 50 (Mutter MR 4928, PipeWire >= 1.6) added HDR screen sharing for
monitor streams: 10-bit PQ formats (xRGB_210LE/xBGR_210LE) with MANDATORY
BT.2020 + SMPTE-2084 colorimetry props, advertised while the mirrored
monitor is in BT.2100 colour mode. Wire the Linux host into it end-to-end
on the GameStream desktop-mirror path (PUNKTFUNK_VIDEO_SOURCE=portal):
* pf-frame: PixelFormat::X2Rgb10/X2Bgr10 (DRM XR30/XB30; X2Bgr10 is the
Windows Rgb10a2 layout) + fourccs.
* pf-capture: want_hdr portal offer — HDR-only LINEAR-dmabuf pods with
MANDATORY PQ/BT.2020 props (SHM excluded: Mutter's SHM record path
paints 8-bit ARGB32 regardless of format; tiled excluded: the EGL
de-tile blit is 8-bit RGBA8), negotiated-colorimetry parse, generic
HDR10 hdr_meta(), packed-10-bit CPU cursor blend, a process-wide SDR
downgrade latch on negotiation timeout, and a DisplayConfig BT.2100
colour-mode probe (gnome_hdr_monitor_active).
* pf-encode: libav NVENC X2RGB10->P010 swscale (BT.2020 limited) ->
HEVC Main10 / 10-bit AV1 with PQ VUI; VAAPI 10-bit on both paths (CPU
P010 upload + dmabuf XR30 scale_vaapi p010/bt2020); can_encode_10bit
now probes for real on Linux; 10-bit sessions route around the
8-bit-only Vulkan-video/direct-NVENC backends.
* GameStream: host_hdr_capable() Linux arm, live monitor-HDR check at
RTSP honor time, capturer-pool reuse keyed on HDR-ness, gs_bit_depth
covers the new formats. New `punktfunk-host hdr-probe` diagnostic and
a PUNKTFUNK_SPIKE_HDR spike lever.
* Native plane stays honestly 8-bit via capturer_supports_hdr(): Mutter
RecordVirtual streams are SDR-only upstream (GNOME 50 and 51-dev), so
virtual-display sources cannot deliver HDR yet.
Validated on the RTX 5070 Ti (GNOME 50.3 / PipeWire 1.6.8): the Main10
probes pass and the ignored nvenc_hdr10_smoke GPU test emits an IDR that
ffprobe reads as Main 10 / yuv420p10le / bt2020nc / smpte2084 / limited.
Live HDR capture negotiation still needs an HDR monitor on glass; VAAPI
10-bit needs the AMD box.

New docs-site page documenting the two first-party plugins and how to
install them: the shared `bun add @punktfunk/plugin-*` + runner-enable

plus the Punktfunk Sync .pext exporter). Registered in the nav after
"automation" and cross-linked from the Events & hooks page.

- New "4:4:4 and HDR" section: what each mode buys, the ~1.6× / +15% bitrate
cost, that HDR needs a Windows host today (Linux capture has no HDR source),
and that the two combine (~1.9× the 4:2:0 SDR rate).
- Interactive <BitrateCalculator> (registered in the MDX components map):
resolution (presets or custom), frame rate, 4:2:0/4:4:4, SDR/HDR -> the
estimated Automatic pin, bits/pixel, per-frame size, and which link tier it
needs. Formula mirrors the host's resolve_bitrate_kbps_for exactly.
- Expanded the bandwidth table with 120 Hz rows; note the big modes want 5/10 GbE.
- Document PUNKTFUNK_PYROWAVE_MAX_MBPS (cap the open-loop pin on a constrained
link) in configuration.md.
- pyrowave.md -> .mdx so the page can host the component.

Phases 4+5 of design/pyrowave-444-hdr.md. The Metal decoder needs NO new ABI:
every frame's sequence header carries chroma (444) and, since the Phase-3
stamps, the PQ/BT.2020 bits — so the decoder self-configures per session.
Decoder: WaveletLayout grows the 4:4:4 block space (chroma runs the full
pyramid like luma — no level-0 skip, no early half-res emit; the Metal
kernels were already chroma-agnostic, only the dispatch structure changes);
the parser accepts chroma_resolution=444, reads the PQ transfer bit, and
lifts the even-dims rule for 444; the plane ring allocates full-res chroma
and r16Unorm for PQ streams; CSC rows switch to depth-10 MSB-packed.
Presenter: planar HDR passthrough reuses pf_frag_planar on an rgba16Float
drawable (itur_2100_PQ + EDR metadata interpret the samples — same split as
pf_frag/pf_frag_hdr), plus a new pf_frag_planar_tm PQ->SDR tone-map (shared
pqToSdr tail refactored out of pf_frag_hdr_tv) for tvOS-without-headroom AND
macOS WINDOWED sessions, whose IOSurface present path (the DCP-panic
mitigation) is BGRA8-only. SessionModel stops stripping the HDR/10-bit/444
caps on the PyroWave opt-in.
New golden: au-dense444 + upstream's own 4:4:4 reference planes (regenerated
via the extended pyrowave_dump_golden); Metal decode matches at 64-67 dB
(420 fixtures re-verify 77-88 dB). Full Apple suite 157 tests green on a
real M-series GPU. Docs updated: the 8-bit-SDR-only wording is gone, the
Windows host is no longer 'on the roadmap', bpp scaling documented.

The "Which should I use?" table on the clients page listed most client
names as bold text, not links — only the Decky plugin and pf-webos were
clickable — so the client references appeared broken. Link each client to
its section (or dedicated page), and fix a stale Windows headless command.
Repo-wide docs correctness/staleness pass against the code:
- steam-deck: client-not-found -> flatpak-not-found (the real backend code)
- install: host cert is punktfunk-host-windows_<ver>.cer, not ..._setup.cer
- configuration: GPU_PRIORITY_CLASS default is auto; 10BIT/444 are default-on
- how-it-works/index: GameStream/Moonlight is opt-in (--gamestream)
- roadmap: clipboard sync is shipped, not planned
- install-client: MSIX/cert artifacts are arch-suffixed (_x64/_arm64)
- requirements: fix garbled 22H2/IddCx sentence
- status: Linux encode also covers AMD/Intel (VAAPI/Vulkan Video)
- automation: add the plugins.changed event
- windows-host: note the optional bundled VB-CABLE virtual mic
- sway: PUNKTFUNK_COMPOSITOR=hyprland is a wlroots-family alias
- running-as-a-service: punktfunk-probe is a source-build-only dev tool

Add sdk/examples/virtualhere-dualsense.ts — bind a real USB DualSense (shared
from the couch via VirtualHere USB-over-IP) to the host for the length of each
connection and release it after, for full gyro/touchpad/adaptive-trigger/USB-
rumble passthrough instead of the emulated pad. Brackets on client.connected/
disconnected and releases the pad on SIGTERM for a clean runner stop.
Document it in the Events & hooks page with a zero-code hooks.json variant.

The optional supervision layer (RFC §8): one service runs everything in
<config_dir>/scripts/ plus installed punktfunk-plugin-* packages
(<config_dir>/plugins/node_modules/), as Effect fibers.
- Plugins (a definePlugin default export, either main shape) are
SUPERVISED: a failure restarts them with capped exponential backoff
(jittered, 1s→60s); a clean return completes them. The Effect shape
runs under the PunktfunkHost layer; the async-fn shape gets a facade
client whose close is scope-guaranteed.
- Bare scripts are one-shot: importing them is the run, no restart
(export a plugin to be supervised).
- Shutdown is STRUCTURAL: SIGINT/SIGTERM interrupt the whole fiber tree,
so Effect plugins' scoped finalizers run and clients close before
exit — the systemctl-stop story, and the reason the Effect plugin
shape exists at all.
- The sshd rule applies to unit files (world-writable → refused loudly);
cache-busted imports make restarts real; --list for inventory.
6 new bun tests (17 total green): discovery + refusal, both plugin
shapes against a mock host, crash→restart with backoff, one-shot
semantics, and finalizer-on-interrupt. Live-verified against a real
host: a supervised watcher plugin received library.changed through the
pinned tunnel, and SIGTERM shut the tree down structurally (exit 0).
Deferred to the packaging follow-up (release.yml is in flight in a
parallel session): the vendored-Bun deb/rpm/iss packages and the
host-log-ring tee (needs a host ingest endpoint); console page rides
the other console surfaces.

External game-library providers become first-class (RFC §8): a plugin
computes its desired title list and PUTs it — the host owns the diff.
- CustomEntry gains `provider` + `external_id` (API-set only; never on
manual entries). GameEntry surfaces `provider` for console attribution
and the new `GET /library?provider=` filter.
- PUT /api/v1/library/provider/{p}: atomic declarative reconcile keyed
on the provider's `external_id` — host ids stay stable across syncs,
orphans drop, manual entries and other providers are never touched,
an empty array clears the set. Validated: provider id [a-z0-9._-]
(`manual` reserved), unique non-empty external_ids.
- DELETE /api/v1/library/provider/{p}: clean uninstall, returns the
removed count.
- Ownership is unambiguous both ways: manual CRUD now returns 409 for a
provider-owned entry (MutateOutcome::ProviderOwned) instead of letting
an edit be silently clobbered at the next sync.
- library.changed now carries the mutating source (`manual` or the
provider id) — hooks and the SDK filter on it.
- Spec + SDK schemas regenerated; sdk/examples/provider-sync.ts is the
provider-plugin skeleton.
347 host tests green (pure reconcile: stable ids, orphan drop,

Local snapshot of intermingled in-flight work, committed to unblock the encode
refactor (a clean ffmpeg_win.rs for the vbv-dedup follow-on). These hunks span
the same files and can't be cleanly split here; the commit bundles three
distinct workstreams that each belong in their own PR:
- logging rework (~43 files: level re-tiering, structured fields, `?e`,
hot-path flood latches)
- conflicting-host detection (detect.rs + detect/{linux,windows}.rs + wiring
in main.rs/mgmt.rs/Cargo.toml/docs/packaging)
- standby-sink DWM-stall attribution (windows/display_events.rs + capture/
vdisplay wiring)
NOT verified as a combination. NOT to be pushed until the refactor is done and
these are re-verified and reorganized into their proper per-workstream PRs.

Adds an LG webOS TV entry to Clients and Install a Client, pointing at
the community-maintained pf-webos project (dyptan-io) and its sideload
steps (Homebrew Channel + .ipk) — not an official punktfunk client.
Flip the `pyrowave` cargo feature into the default set across punktfunk-host,
pf-client-core, pf-presenter and the session client — every packaged build
(flatpak, arch/rpm/copr, windows x64 client) now carries the codec. Selection
stays strictly per-session opt-in: a client must pick "PyroWave (wired LAN)"
in Settings (or PUNKTFUNK_PREFER_PYROWAVE=1); nothing changes for normal
HEVC/AV1 sessions. The Windows ARM64 client leg builds --no-default-features
and keeps skipping it (decode is Linux-native + Apple Metal today).
Advertisement no longer waits for the PUNKTFUNK_ENCODER=pyrowave lab
override on NVIDIA: host_wire_caps sets the bit whenever the feature is
present and the host isn't the GPU-less software pref, and
SessionPlan::output_format flips a PyroWave session on the NVIDIA-auto
capture path to CPU RGB frames (the EGL→CUDA import only NVENC consumes;
the wavelet backend ingests raw dmabufs or CPU RGB). AMD/Intel keep their
raw-dmabuf zero-copy unchanged; per-session raw-dmabuf passthrough on
NVIDIA (true zero-copy without the env's global capture policy) stays a
follow-up.
On-glass on .21 (RTX 5070 Ti, default-features binaries, NO env overrides):
host advertises + negotiates PyroWave, the CPU-capture fallback engages,
60 fps at e2e 3.2-5.7 ms p50, and a mid-stream 1080p→720p resize rides on
top cleanly. Workspace clippy --locked clean; 33 client + 314 host tests.

The Apple client now decodes PyroWave natively on the presenter's own MTLDevice —
no MoltenVK, no upstream C++ in the app. Completes and wires up the decoder whose
early working-tree snapshot rode along in 9127c346:
- MetalWaveletShaders.swift: wavelet_dequant + idwt hand-ported from the vendored
GLSL (STORAGE_MODE 0 only; subgroup scans → 32-wide simdgroups; DCShift spec
constant → function constant; precision-1 split: fp16 levels 0-1 / fp32 2-4).
- MetalWaveletDecoder.swift: Swift reimplementation of push_packet/decode_packet
incl. the Phase-4 chunk-aligned window walk (FRAG chains, zeroed missing shards,
the >half-blocks partial rule), init_block_meta's block-index space, and the
42-dequant + 13-idwt dispatch structure with encoder-boundary barriers. SOF-dims
changes rebuild the size-dependent resources, which is also the mid-stream
resize path. Ring of 4 output plane sets on the presenter's queue.
- Presenter: pf_frag_planar (3xR8, the planar_csc.frag twin) + renderPlanar with
a shared present tail; ReadyFrame carries an image enum (.video | .planar).
- Stage2Pipeline: a dedicated PyroWave pump — no VideoToolbox machinery, no
keyframe/re-anchor recovery (all-intra; partials render as localized blur by
design), newest-frame-index staleness guard for late partials.
- Opt-in: "PyroWave (wired LAN)" codec entry (probe-gated, ≈A13 floor via a real
kernel-compile probe), selecting it advertises + prefers the codec and forces
the session SDR (HDR/10-bit/4:4:4 caps dropped, plan contract).
- Core ABI: punktfunk_connection_shard_payload() — the Welcome's negotiated shard
payload, needed by native decoders to walk chunk-aligned AUs.
- Validation: golden fixtures generated by the host encoder + upstream's own
decoder (pyrowave_dump_golden, RTX 5070 Ti); the Metal decode PSNR-matches at
77-88 dB across all planes for dense AND chunk-aligned AUs, and a hole-punched
partial still decodes. Parser unit tests cover the window walk, FRAG chains,
broken chains, the half-blocks gate, and the block-index layout.
Tests: apple 134 green (mac; iOS/tvOS build), host 312 w/ pyrowave on .21,
core 148 w/ quic; clippy/fmt clean.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- pf-presenter: the HUD/title mode line lived inside the match-window (D2)
gate, so an accepted switch from any OTHER trigger (the
PUNKTFUNK_DEBUG_RECONFIGURE lever, a host-side corrective rollback) left the
label stale. Hoisted into its own per-iteration tick that runs whenever a
stream is up.
- docs: pyrowave.md — the Automatic bitrate pin now follows a mid-stream
resize; drop the "resolution changes rebuild the stream" limitation.
Completes the resize-rebuild work whose core landed in 9127c346
(video_pyrowave.rs sequence-header dims sniff + in-place decoder/plane-ring
rebuild with retired-ring lifetime handling, host per-mode ~1.6 bpp re-pin,
128px floor, debug reconfigure lever). On-glass validated on .21
(RTX 5070 Ti, Mutter virtual display): 1080p->720p and 1080p->1440p
mid-stream switches, lossless AND under 2% netem loss — decoder rebuilt in
place, 60 fps sustained (partials during loss), pinned rate re-resolved
199065->88473 / ->353894 kbps, HUD flips to the new mode.

The 2026 Steam Controller (Valve "Ibex" / SDL "Triton") captured on an
Android client is passed through AS-IS: the host presents a virtual pad
with the real wired identity (28DE:1302) and mirrors the physical pad's
raw HID reports, so Steam on the host drives it over hidraw exactly like
the real thing — trackpads, gyro, paddles, and its rumble/settings writes
flow back onto the physical controller. Protocol ground truth: SDL's
Valve-maintained SDL_hidapi_steam_triton.c + steam/controller_structs.h.
Core:
- GamepadPref::SteamController2 (wire byte 9; names steamcontroller2/
sc2/ibex) + PUNKTFUNK_GAMEPAD_STEAMCONTROLLER2 in the C ABI.
- Raw HID planes: RichInput::HidReport (0xCC/0x04, client→host input
reports verbatim, Copy fixed-64 body) and HidOutput::HidRaw (0xCD/0x05,
host→client feature/output writes for replay). Best-effort is sound by
the device protocol's own design (rumble re-sent every ~40 ms, settings
every ~3 s — losses self-heal); HidRaw bypasses hidout dedup for
exactly that reason.
Host (Linux):
- triton_proto.rs + steam_controller2.rs: Triton2Manager UHID backend —
no kernel driver binds the PID (hidraw only; Steam Input is the
consumer), raw mirroring with a typed-fallback 0x42 synthesizer until
the first raw report, SET_REPORT ack + raw forward, canned GET_REPORT
serial reply, rumble also parsed onto the universal 0xCA plane (phone
mirror). Rides the uhid + 28DE-conflict degrades; UHID promotion by
Steam is flagged in the creation log (usbip transport is the known
follow-up if Steam ignores Interface:-1 devices for Triton too).
Android:
- Sc2UsbLink (wired/Puck: vendor-interface claim detaches the OS driver,
interrupt read loop, lizard-off on the watchdog cadence, raw replay via
interrupt-OUT / SET_REPORT with hidapi report-id framing) and Sc2BleLink
(Valve vendor GATT service, notify subscribe machine, 0x45 re-framing,
HIGH connection priority).
- Sc2Capture orchestrator: raw plane + typed mirror (exit chord + host
degrade paths keep working) on a GamepadRouter external slot; raw
return path via GamepadFeedback.onHidRaw.
- nativeSendPadHidReport JNI (direct ByteBuffer, no per-report copy),
hidout raw decode, usb-host/BLUETOOTH_CONNECT manifest bits, opt-out
settings toggle, StreamScreen engagement incl. the USB permission flow.
Verified: core 149 + host 312 tests green on Linux (.21), on-box uhid
smoke creates/mirrors/tears down the virtual 28DE:1302, C ABI harness
round-trips, Android compileDebugKotlin green. On-glass with the real
controller owed.

plan §4.6 + Phase 3 productization:
- Pinned bitrate: an Automatic client (bitrate 0) on a PyroWave session
resolves to the codec's ~1.6 bpp operating point for the mode (≈200
Mbps at 1080p60) instead of the 20 Mbps H.26x default; explicit rates
are honored. Mid-stream SetBitrate retargets are refused with the
pinned rate acked (guards old/foreign clients), and the client-side
AIMD controller + startup capacity probe stay off for the codec — no
rate descent into wavelet mush, no climb probe whose VBV reasoning
doesn't apply to hard per-frame CBR. Unit-tested.
- All-intra silencing: the data plane drops drained keyframe/RFI
requests on PyroWave sessions (the next frame IS the recovery), so
the forced-IDR cooldown, RFI attempt, and storm coalescing never run.
- Opt-in UI: 'PyroWave (wired LAN)' joins the console's Video-codec
cycler; trust::Settings maps it to CODEC_PYROWAVE. Safe everywhere by
the negotiation contract — an un-advertised preference falls back
through the ladder.
- FEC: decision recorded — adaptive FEC (10% start, loss-report driven)
stays as-is for the MVP opaque-AU mode; the FEC≈0 policy belongs to
the Phase-4 datagram-aligned mode.
- THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES: the generator now lists third-party trees
vendored inside first-party crates (pyrowave, Granite subset, volk,
Vulkan-Headers) with their full license texts; file regenerated.
- docs-site: 'PyroWave (wired-LAN codec)' page — what it is, the
bandwidth table, how to enable it, current limits.
Validated on .21: 309 host + 148 core + 26 client tests green,
console-ui clean, both feature configs.

Mesa now exposes Vulkan Video decode queues by default (and the session
binary opts RADV in for the Deck's sake), which silently moved every desktop
AMD/Intel box onto FFmpeg-Vulkan-on-Mesa under `auto` — user-reported
(CachyOS/KDE) to judder or error-streak into the software demotion while an
explicit VAAPI pick streams perfectly. Auto's hardware order is now
device-aware (`VulkanDecodeDevice::prefer_vulkan_over_vaapi`, fed
vendor id + device name by the presenter): Vulkan-first stays only where it
is the established right answer — NVIDIA (no usable VAAPI) and the Deck's
VanGogh (VAAPI dmabuf import chroma-fringes) — and everything else gets the
battle-tested zero-copy VAAPI first, with Vulkan as its fallback.
A mid-session Vulkan failure streak now also demotes to VAAPI before
software, so a broken Mesa Vulkan path can never strand a box with a
perfectly good VAAPI driver on CPU decode.
The GTK shell's decoder setting gains the missing "Vulkan Video" option
(values now mirror the console UI's auto/vulkan/vaapi/software) and drops
its pre-Vulkan "Automatic (VAAPI → software)" label.
Verified on the RTX 5070 Ti box (loopback session, auto → "Vulkan Video
hardware decode active", 60 fps); policy locked by unit test; clippy -D
warnings + pf-client-core/pf-presenter tests green on Linux.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- REPLAY_WINDOW 32768 -> 131072: the anti-replay bitmap covered the
120 ms loss window only to ~2 Gbps; the client now delivers ~4.8 Gbps
wire, where a late-but-valid Wi-Fi-retried datagram would have been
dropped as 'older than the window' — false loss. 16 KiB/session
covers ~12 Gbps.
- RECV_BATCH 32 -> 128: syscall rate stays ~3.4k/s at 430k pkt/s and
each pump iteration drains the kernel buffer deeper (ring 64->256 KB,
client sessions only). flush_backlog's iteration cap rescaled to keep
its ~190 MB guard equivalent.
- PUNKTFUNK_GSO gate is now value-aware: '=0' used to ENABLE GSO on
Linux (presence check) while disabling Windows USO. GSO stays OPT-IN,
deliberately: A/B'd twice today — it cuts send-thread CPU ~30% but
its 16-packet line-rate trains cost delivered throughput on a
constrained fabric (2.5GbE-hop pair: peak 2453 -> 1908 Mbps and 0.4%
loss at a rate sendmmsg carries clean). Flipping the default belongs
with pace-aware chunk spacing (plan Phase 1.2/1.3). docs-site row
corrected to match.

The N4 GO verdict, productized. GamepadPref::SteamDeck on a Windows host
now builds a real virtual Deck instead of folding to DualSense: games
get native Deck glyphs + both trackpads + gyro + all four back grips
through Steam Input's own remapping.
- steam_deck_windows.rs: DeckWinPad/DeckWinProto/SteamDeckWindowsManager
over the sealed shm channel, sharing the whole Linux Deck codec
(steam_proto now compiles on Windows too — it was already pure). The
SwDevice identity carries usb_mi: Some(2): the &MI_02 hardware-id
token hidclass mirrors into the HID child and Steam parses as the
wired controller interface — the promotion gate.
- Driver: DEVTYPE_STEAMDECK (3) graduates from the spike — SET_FEATURE
0xEB rumble / 0x8F haptic pulses are republished to the host through
the output slot (report-id-0 prefixed, so parse_steam_output sees the
Linux wire shape), and the 0xAE/GET_STRING serial + 0x83 unit id are
per-pad (read from the section's pad_index; PFDK<unit-id> matches
steam_proto::deck_serial).
- Router: SteamDeck arms in the Windows Pads paths; pick_gamepad flips
SteamDeck-if-windows -> SteamDeck (the DualSense fold retires);
dualsense-windows-test grows --deck.
ON-GLASS VALIDATED on .173 (rebuilt signed driver 9.9.0714.12xx
installed, Steam live): the manager-created pad (index 1) enumerates
with per-pad serial PFDK50460001, Steam logs Interface: 2 ->
'!! Steam controller device opened' -> 'Steam Controller reserving
XInput slot 0' -> PollState 2 (actively polling our cycling input
frames) -> mapping activated; clean teardown on exit. Rumble round-trip
through a real game remains an on-glass debt (nothing sent 0xEB during
the idle hold).
Known gap vs Linux: no physical-Steam-controller conflict degrade on
Windows yet (degrade_steam_on_conflict is Linux-only — /sys scan); a
Windows equivalent needs SetupDi enumeration and is deferred.
Verified: .21 clippy -D warnings + 304/0 tests + fmt --all; .133 clippy
-D warnings + the WDK driver-workspace check.

The punktfunk-web unit serves HTTP/1.1 over TLS with the host's own
self-signed identity cert, but several guides still told users to open
http://<host>:47992, which fails. Correct the scheme everywhere and note
the one-time browser cert warning in the canonical + SteamOS docs.
The RPM %post web hint was doubly wrong (http://<host-ip>:3000): wrong
scheme and wrong port — the service listens on :47992, not the :3000 dev
default. Also fixes scripts/web-init.sh, so the URL the SteamOS/Linux
installer prints at the end of setup is correct too.

"Gaming rig" actually meant a dedicated/headless box you only ever stream from,
which confused users — rename it to "Headless box" and rewrite all five preset
summaries to be scenario-first and shorter (the console cards already show the
mechanics as badges). Updated across the host API summaries (mgmt.rs), the web
console labels (en/de), and the docs table + prose. The internal preset id
`gaming-rig` is unchanged (stable API / stored-policy / test contract).

5.1 and 7.1 surround now works end to end (host encodes multichannel
via multistream Opus; native clients render >2 channels via
AudioDec::Surround). Move it to Shipped + the at-a-glance table, and
narrow the Planned entry to the genuinely-future object-based spatial
audio work. Corrects the stale 'every path is stereo end to end / no
client renders it yet' claim.

Six parallel audits swept the root docs, docs-site, every per-directory
README, and the packaging docs; every claim below was verified against
the source before editing.
- README: Layout gains the six missing crates (pf-client-core,
pf-presenter, pf-console-ui, pf-ffvk, pf-driver-proto, punktfunk-tray),
clients/session, api/ and ci/; Linux/Windows client rows reflect the
shell + Vulkan-session split and the Vulkan Video -> VAAPI/D3D11VA ->
software decode chains; the "every client over a C ABI" claim is
corrected (Rust clients link the core directly); tiered stats overlay
+ console shell noted; Apple row mentions AV1.
- CONTRIBUTING: drop the dead CLAUDE.md link (deliberately untracked);
point at the README's build/invariants sections. SECURITY: 0.9.0.
- host-cli/pairing: --allow-pairing/--require-pairing are no-op legacy
names — pairing is required by default, --allow-tofu is the real flag;
document --data-port and --idle-timeout-ms.
- configuration: document PUNKTFUNK_RECOVER_SESSION_CMD (session-crash
recovery hook), PUNKTFUNK_MDNS, PUNKTFUNK_DATA_PORT.
- virtual-displays/gnome: GNOME per-client scaling shipped (host-
persisted) — flip the ❌ to ✅ and describe how it works.
- stats: new "Detail levels" section (Off/Compact/Normal/Detailed +
per-platform cycle gestures); retire the GTK hand-off note.
- clients/install-client/status/roadmap: decode chains, Windows client
validation narrowed to HDR-only pending, adaptive bitrate, console
shell, Apple AV1, Windows host vendor list.
- Sub-READMEs: clients/linux rewritten for the re-architecture; session
Windows decode rung + d3d11va knob; Windows tiered overlay; Android
minSdk 28; decky file table; host zerocopy/ path; scripts port
47992 and steamos-host.md; pf-dualsense source path.
- packaging: canary version bases are tag-derived (<next-minor> via
pf-version.sh/.ps1), codecs-extra not ffmpeg-full, document the
pinned offline-Skia tarball + SKIA_BINARIES_URL and vulkan-headers.
- Convert 15 dangling design/*.md links to the punktfunk-planning
prose convention (those docs live in the private planning repo).

mDNS advertisement (native _punktfunk._udp AND GameStream _nvstream) can now
be disabled with --no-mdns on serve/punktfunk1-host or PUNKTFUNK_MDNS=0
(the PUNKTFUNK_ZEROCOPY off-grammar) — for multicast-dead environments
(bridged Docker, CI netns) where the advert reaches nobody or fails outright
and aborts the GameStream plane; clients dial a manually-added host instead
(mDNS-blind host-add works since the 0.8.4 dial-first fix). Unit tests no
longer advertise on the LAN (mdns: false).
punktfunk1-host gains --pairing-pin <PIN> (the already-plumbed fixed-PIN
test seam, now CLI-exposed; empty refused like --mgmt-token) so a CI harness
runs a deterministic SPAKE2 ceremony instead of scraping the logged PIN.
Verified live: --no-mdns + PUNKTFUNK_MDNS=0 skip the advert, --pairing-pin
arms with the fixed PIN, and a punktfunk1-host --source synthetic +
punktfunk-probe loopback run passes verification (60/60 frames, 0 mismatch).

The long-deferred Android display stage (design/stats-unification.md; plan 4.1 of
design/client-parity-and-network-resilience.md): AMediaCodec_setOnFrameRenderedCallback
(API 26, under the minSdk-28 floor ⇒ hard-linked via ndk-sys) reports SurfaceFlinger's
per-frame render timestamp, giving the HUD the spec's `display` = decoded→displayed term
and the directly-measured capture→displayed end-to-end headline on both decode loops.
Falls back per spec to the v1 capture→decoded endpoint on any window without render
callbacks (the platform may drop them under load), and to it permanently if registration
is refused.
- The render timestamp arrives on CLOCK_MONOTONIC; it's re-based onto CLOCK_REALTIME
against monotonic-now at callback time, which also cancels the (batchable) callback
delivery lag.
- The `ndk` crate exposes neither the callback nor the codec pointer needed to bind it
raw, so the workspace pins `ndk` 0.9.0 to a vendored copy (clients/android/native/
vendor/ndk) whose ONLY change makes MediaCodec::as_ptr public — the "as_ptr patch".
Workspace-excluded so host builds never compile it; drop when upstream exposes either.
- nativeVideoStats grows to 26 doubles (22–25: dispValid, displayP50, e2eDispP50/P95;
0–21 unchanged for older readers); StatsOverlay moves headline endpoint + equation
together so the equation always tiles the headline interval.
Verified: host cargo check/test/clippy, aarch64-linux-android check/clippy, Kotlin
app+kit+tests compile, roborazzi HUD render shows the full 4-term equation. Device
verification rides plan 4.2's phone A/B.

The FlowBoxChild draws the hover/selection highlight AROUND the card
(it wraps it with its own padding ring), so its default corner radius
ran visibly tighter than the card's 12px inside it. The host grids now
scope a 15px radius onto their children — card radius + the ring — so
the highlight's corners run concentric with the card's.

The client now advertises VIDEO_CAP_10BIT|HDR and carries the result all
the way to glass:
- csc_rows is bit-depth exact (10-bit limited code points differ from
8-bit by ~half a code) and folds in the P010/X6 MSB-packing factor;
new 10-bit white/black tests.
- The CSC shader grows a params block: mode 0 passes the transfer
through (SDR as-is, or PQ onto an HDR10 swapchain); mode 1 tonemaps
PQ→SDR in-shader (ST.2084 EOTF, 203-nit reference white exposure,
BT.2020→709, soft maxRGB rolloff, sRGB encode) for desktops without
an HDR surface. PUNKTFUNK_TONEMAP_PEAK tunes the rolloff.
- The presenter probes VK_EXT_swapchain_colorspace + an HDR10/ST.2084
10-bit surface format and flips modes in-band with the stream's PQ
signaling: fence-quiesce, then CSC pass + video image (10-bit
A2B10G10R10 intermediate — PQ in 8 bits bands) + overlay pipe +
swapchain rebuild through the deferred-destroy rules.
- P010 decodes through all three paths: Vulkan Video (X6 multiplanar
pool, R10X6 plane views), VAAPI dmabuf (R16/RG1616 plane imports),
software (swscale as before).
- session pump advertises the caps; the host still gates Main10 behind
its PUNKTFUNK_10BIT policy.
Probed on glass hardware: the KDE/NVIDIA surface exposes
A2B10G10R10+HDR10_ST2084, so true PQ passthrough is available there.
Known v1 gaps: software-decode PQ shows untonemapped (8-bit RGBA
carries the transfer baked); the SDR overlay composites unscaled onto
an HDR10 surface (dim OSD); no vkSetHdrMetadataEXT yet.

The Vulkan path's receive_frame returns at SUBMISSION (~0.1 ms) — the
hardware decodes asynchronously, so the decode stat was truthful but
measured the wrong boundary. The pump now ships the frame to the
presenter FIRST, then waits the frame's timeline fence (vkWaitSemaphores
resolved through the shared device's proc chain) and stamps
received→decode-COMPLETE — true NVDEC time at zero pipeline cost, since
the presenter's own GPU wait is what actually gates sampling. Software/
VAAPI keep their synchronous stamps.
Also: Alt+Enter joins F11 as the fullscreen toggle (some keyboards' Fn
layer sends a media key for plain F11 — observed on glass as
'F11 only works with shift'); the shell's shortcuts panel lists both.

The mgmt REST API has bound 0.0.0.0:47990 by default since ae51276 so paired
clients can browse the game library over mTLS, but every packaged firewall
opener still excluded 47990 and the docs still claimed it was loopback-only.
On any host with an active firewall (ufw/firewalld) the LAN game-library
feature was silently broken.
Add 47990/tcp to the native firewall profiles (punktfunk.ufw [punktfunk-native]
+ punktfunk-native.xml) and correct the stale "loopback-only by default" text
across the debian/arch/bazzite READMEs and the docs site (incl. the factually
wrong --mgmt-bind default in host-cli.md, 127.0.0.1 -> 0.0.0.0). Opening the
port adds no admin exposure: off-loopback mgmt::require_auth serves only the
read-only status/library allowlist to a paired client cert; the bearer-token
admin surface stays loopback-only regardless of the bind.
Windows was already sound (shared parse_serve binds 0.0.0.0; service.rs already
firewall-opens 47990) — add a clarifying comment so the rule isn't mistaken for
accidental over-exposure.

The full git.unom.io package URL is painful to read/type on a Steam
Deck's on-screen keyboard; unom.io/pf-decky now redirects to it
(added in unom/infra's Caddyfile). Canary/pinned links stay long-form
since only /latest gets a short link.

On-glass A/B on the Ryzen 7000 iGPU (1080p120 HDR P010, hevc_amf,
PUNKTFUNK_PERF stage split): the system-memory readback costs the encode
thread 2.7-2.9 ms p50 (6.6 ms p99) per frame in submit; the zero-copy D3D11
pool path does the same work in 0.26 ms p50 (0.5 ms p99) — and on an iGPU the
readback also burns the shared memory bandwidth the game needs. The docs-site
already promised "on by default ... D3D11 on Windows" since the Linux flip
(9814368 was Linux-only); the Windows code now delivers it.
PUNKTFUNK_ZEROCOPY becomes a tri-state override: unset defers to a per-vendor
default in zerocopy_enabled(vendor) — ON for AMF (validated above; open
failures still fall back to system-memory readback), OFF for QSV until it is
validated on Intel glass (the fallback only catches *setup* errors; a QSV
derive that opens but maps wrong would corrupt silently, so probe-never-assume
applies). Explicit values force either way: 0|false|off|no = readback,
anything else = zero-copy, so the old presence-style =1 keeps working.

Now that the per-capture worker subprocess makes an NVENC EGL/CUDA driver
fault survivable (design/zerocopy-worker-isolation.md), the reason the NVENC
zero-copy path stayed opt-in is gone. zerocopy::enabled() now defaults ON for
both GPU backends (was ON VAAPI / OFF NVENC). Fallbacks are intact: VAAPI's
one-shot CPU auto-downgrade (VAAPI-gated, never trips for NVENC) and NVENC's
per-capture fallback + worker-death latch.
Reframe the shipped host.env examples and setup guides to rely on the default
rather than force PUNKTFUNK_ZEROCOPY=1 (an explicit =1 skips the VAAPI
auto-downgrade).

Save named bundles of the display-management policy (the six behavior axes
plus the game-session axis) as custom presets, alongside the built-ins. A
custom preset is data — stored in <config>/display-presets.json — not a Preset
enum variant, so DisplayPolicy::effective() stays pure and the built-in set is
untouched; applying one writes a Custom policy via the existing PUT
/display/settings.
- policy.rs: CustomPreset/CustomPresetInput + load/add/update/delete store
- mgmt.rs: GET/POST /display/presets + PUT/DELETE /display/presets/{id},
surfaced on GET /display/settings
- web console: custom-preset cards with save-as / edit / delete + i18n
- regenerated api/openapi.json; docs
